![]() More complex answer is... Bluetooth is a technology to connect various devices together over short range (about 10m). The main use for it on a mobile would be to exchange things like phone book entries between phones, use a Bluetooth headset to make hands free calls or to connect to your PC, say to download your phonebook and SMS messages etc. It can also be used with PDA's to do things like web surfing and e-mail. Which is mainly how I use it. In fact I use my Sony Clie to write SMS messages as I find it quicker than pressing the buttons on the phone! |

however, if you buy a bluetooth dongle for you computer some include 'audio gateway' which will allow you to use the speakers and microphone attatched to your computer to talk as though you were talking into the handset, with the phone up to a set distance away
also with the 6230 is pc suite, this contains software which will allow you to write the messages and then when you send the bluetooth will send them to the phone and on from there, same for when you get a message, it will display it on screen for you |

The basic answer to the question is that Bluetooth isn't really a mechanism to send or receive phone calls or texts in the same way as dialling up/texting normally on the phone handset.
Think of it as a way to enable some other device to "remote control" the phone and make use of it's facilities. And in any case the very limited range of Bluetooth would make it pretty useless for phoning anyone!

If you do some research there are some programs out there that can "extend" what bluetooth can do - ie, some programs let you send messages to other people. I have one that allows you to stream video to another bluetooth phone but they have to have the same program installed. Because your phone isn't Symbian it will be hard to locate java programs that can do that - I haven't found one. Anyway, if i can stream video to one person and send them messages via bluetooth then i'm pretty sure there will be a program out there that will do phone calls over it. You may need a new phone that can install SIS applications though...
