Is there an optimum time for a storyline? The Cameron one is going on and on and on.................The same with Karl in Corrie - and this storyline has managed to go on longer because of the break he has had, on and on and on..................I know soaps need a good plot now and then but 100% of my family and friends agree with me that most of them carry on, and on and on........... for much too long. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

depending on the storyline, particularly if an issue based one I think a 2 year storyline arc is fine, however not when it comes to a love triangle/romance.

Generally, story lines last for about 8-9 months. Who-Dunnits are usually 2-5 months. Murder plots are generally 10 months, but could be as short as 1-2. Obviously pregnancy plots are 9 months if the baby is not born before. Affairs are usually 8 months or less before the adulterers are caught out. But some story lines can go on for as long as 2-3 years. I mean, what happened Christmas 2012 in Coronation Street is going to fuel what happens Christmas 2013, so they can be as long as a year.

This David and Nick thing in Corrie is apparently lasting into 2014. Cameron's storyline will probably last until he leaves. Karl's isn't any longer apparently, because the actor is due to depart soon.

It depends on what the storyline is revolving around
A cancer storyline would go on for about just under a year and
The karl and Stella storyline needed a break anyway

'You took the words right out of my mouth
It must've been while you were kissing me' tra la

Sorry, got a bit carried away there, but of course it depends on the sl. A sl about Fizzywizzy doing the cake run should last no more than -4 seconds, but a story about someone discovering they have terminal cancer should last many months.
