Has anyone here had a dog who has suffered with this ?

I am starting to worry that mine might have it, but I can't get him in to see the vet just yet.

It started about a week ago when his eye looked a little odd. We thought he was tired as we were at the end of a fortnights holiday staying at home, and he is an 8yr old boy who likes his sleep. He often has red eye.

Anyway, went back to work, and within a day or so his eyes looked great.

Then last night my husband said to me that he was worried about his jaw. He had noticed that, instead of running and grabbing a toy with his mouth, he nibbled it to get it. I also noticed that when he yawned he wasn't a proper yawn, it was like a stifled yawn.

He is still normal in himself. Eating OK, pooing OK, running around OK, but its just the fact that his mouth isn't opening very much.

I have spent the day on the internet at work (ooops) and MMM seems to be a possibility. I am praying that it isn't that, and instead it was the rawhide bone he was chewing on Sunday afternoon that has given him jaw ache (he was chewing it for about 3hrs and it isn't a regular treat). Or perhaps he has bashed his mouth somehow and it hurts.

I don't know if im panicking unnecessarily. I called the vet, but they are booked solid until Monday, and as its not an emergency as he is eating, we have to wait.

I wouldn't be panicking. He could just have an infected tooth. A few years ago now, we thought one of ours had been stung on the side of his mouth, bit swollen, wasn't opening it much... in fact he had to have a tooth extracted and there was an abcess.

Hope he's fine over the weekend and that all goes well on Monday.

Thank you very much. I hope he is Ok too. I am a worry wart anyway, but I don't want my baby to be in any discomfort.

Just keep an eye on him over the weekend and if he seems to get more uncomfortable, goes off his food, pee becomes darker, has diarhoea... stuff like that, then phone the emergency vet. But don't panic!
