...and Emmerdale has become EastEnders.

Gritty storylines
Long running plots culminating in a massive episode coinciding with a special event i.e. birthday, anniversary etc
No humour or humourless characters
Death
EastEnders

More interaction with different characters
Slow pace
Everyday episodes everyday
Attempted humour/hugging each other
Corrie seems to mix the two elements better but poor nuances by some of the cast.

Am I right? Sorry big three discussion again.

I can't see Emmerdale ever sinking to the dreariness of Enders at it's worst but I see your point. The overly long running depressing plots & annoying characters (rhona, laurel & jersey boy) are getting a bit much. I stopped watching Enders years ago so can't comment on that, though might have a look again if it's got more emmerdale-like.

Said this for a long time. And to be honest, it's why Eastenders gets my vote!
Yes I think there's not enough drama in Eastenders, but you care a HECK of a lot more for the characters there than in Emmerdale, where personality change/get ruined over night

I think that the slow pace is because of the amount of episodes shown a week

I would disagree about humourless characters in Emmerdale - ok Debbie's miserable as sin and the storylines are dark at the moment but the likes of Cain, Val, Charity, Pollard, Victoria and David are good for a witty remark, and there's the more broad humour of Dan, Marlon, Kerry, and Bob (although I personally don't like that) and Nikhil and Robbie being (deliberate) figures of fun - albeit Nikhil is a likeable person and Robbie isn't. Look how they've counterbalanced the horror of Gennie's death with the scenes of the Pollards, and Val's notions of tact.

To be fair the humourless camp is equal in both soaps.
Val and Pollard are brill. David and Dan are great.
Kerry can't stand her. Rest no warmth.

EastEnders I don't mind Poppy, Foxes, Kat and Bianca friendship, Kirsty is ok. Like Dot, Patrick. Rest no warmth
