Excuse me if this is a silly question. I'm curious if this regeneration will be the last for The Doctor?
If so, has anyone asked Peter what his reaction is?
How are they going to keep Dr. Who going if this is the last regeneration?

They're hardly going to stop such a successful series because of a vague comment made in an 80s story (sorry if that's not what you're referring to!), they'll either ignore it or work a story around it. But if you're just asking in general, then no, it won't be the last.

He will regenerate one more time then that will be it. When the 13th actor to play the doctor decides to quit then that's it, he dies, no more doctor who.
Mark.

They'll cut off Peter Capaldi's head, enlarge it and put it in a huge jar.

Or they'll use a throwaway remark to counter the original throwaway remark that set the regeneration limit. It's already been done with The Master.

In the Matt Smith episode of "The Sarah Jane Adventures" either Sarah or Jo asks about his regeneration from Doctor 10
First they ask "did it hurt" and he says "Of course it does" and then they asked " how many times can you do it?" and he answered "Hundreds of times".

This was written by RTD (IIRC)

I think the new "no limit" is because there is no Gallifrey or other Time Lords around any more.

I don't think we were meant to take that seriously. But yeah, I think the regeneration limit will be dropped by the time the 13th Doctor leaves.

Spoiler
In fact, I believe it is going to be addressed in the 50th.

Well,since I started this
I'm going with, Clara/Oswin is The Doctors Granddaughter, or something, a relative, and she gives him her regenerations.
She's "The Impossible" girl.

As in: "It's impossible, you can't be my _______________" < insert your possibility here.

But theyve solved the impossible girl arc. She is just Clara now.

Clara, the girl who stayed with The Doctor.

The Doctor- Clara you should go, you have a chance to shine
Clara- I know but travelling with you is interesting.
The Doctor- Interesting, great word Clara.

Of course they won't stop DW because of the regeneration limit.

But if they miss the chance to use it as a story-arc they want slapping.

I'm surprised at how many fans have forgotten that the BBC have already announced that the 13-life limit no longer applies.

When was that? Do you have a link?

He actually said something in the 400s and RTD did it just for a laugh because he knew what the reaction would be like.

It's not even an important question and has been answered hundreds of times.

I'm not sure what vague comment you're referring to but the 5th Doctor story "Mawdryn Undead" had the Doctor's regeneration cycle as a major plotline. Here is some of the dialogue:

MAWDRYN: Give us the energy of a Time Lord! Help us to die!
DOCTOR: I can't!
MAWDRYN: For pity's sake.
TEGAN: Doctor, why can't you help them?
DOCTOR: Don't you understand? If I did, it would be the end of me as a Time Lord.
TEGAN: What do you mean?
DOCTOR: I can only regenerate twelve times. I have already done so four times.
TEGAN: So?
DOCTOR: Don't you see? Eight of them, eight of me.
TEGAN: They want your remaining regenerations?
DOCTOR: It's the only way to end their mutation.

The Doctor actually says "507 times" and 5+0+7=12 so it could be assumed that the line was meant to be a joke. I do think, though, that Moffat will eliminate the regeneration limit, possibly in the 50th Anniversary episode itself.

For myself, if the regeneration limit is changed, I hope it's something like the Doctor gets a new set of 12 regenerations and not that he gets "unlimited" regenerations, making him practically immortal and god-like. Certainly if that happens, it will be hard to believe the Doctor is ever in any real danger unless something happens to him that he can't regenerate from (like being put into a giant meat-grinder, I suppose).

Could be good to play it as now the Time Lords are gone after 13 even he doesn't know if he will regenerate or not.

Not a spoiler as it's pure speculation on your part.

Nah, I read something about it somewhere. To be taken with a pinch of course but I like to be extra careful with potential spoilers.

The regeneration limit was mentioned repeatedly, and yes, became a primary plotline in some cases.

Rewatch the 1996 TV movie for a start - why else was the Master swapping bodies and trying to steal the Doctor's remaining regenerations? Because he'd used all his up!

They are NOT going to end one of the longest-running television shows in history because some a few stories back in the 70s and 80s (and 1996) mentioned it. They will almost certainly find a way to get around it.

Indeed. It's a bit more than the throwaway line it is made out to be.

Still no reason they can't get around it though.
