Yellow light glow on tablet
cmorris
09-08-2013
Hi

When I switch my tablet on and it starts up, I can see two yellow light glows appearing from the bottom of the screen. It goes away once the tablet starts up and can be seen once powering down.

Has anyone else got a Samsung Tablet 10.1 and have this similar problem and will this go away in time or is this a fault and should it be sent back for a replacement?.

Or should I forget about it.

I would get it looked at by someone that knows what they are doing with tech.

Just sounds like some light bleed coming through from the sides when a black screen is on...my Nexus 7 does it.

No, it will stay as it is - it's just light coming through from the back light used on the screen - a lot of LCD screen have the same issue.

If it's not to be seen in normal use forget about it. It's backlight bleed. A non issue if it doesn't bother you. It's a common in LCDs and not a defect if it can't be seen in normal use. Samsung devices in my experience don't seem to have as much bleed as Asus tablets.

How bad really is it though? Can you post an image? My Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has very little along the left edge which doesn't bother me, so it is not a defect.

You could exchange if it's bothering you.

Why don't you watch a movie and see if you see it?

I'd expect another tablet to be the same.

I have the Note 10.1 and have just re-started it, I didn't see anything that you described.

Me neither. It isn't an issue in normal use.

If you just restarted your tablet and didn't see the problem, how can you tell someone else that this isn't a problem in normal use? Their tablet must have it worse than yours as they can see it when they restart.

But at what brightness level? If turned mine up to 100% and looked at the black boot screen I would see a slight bit of bleed along the left. It's normal.

He's said it himself. In normal use it isn't to be seen. If it was it'd be an issue. If it's bothering him he should return.

Yep, that's fine and not uncommon.

Will it go away and will it affect any DVD & Movie watching?

It won't go away but depending if you have high brightness and are watching a black screen then it will depend on how bad it is. Why not just watch a movie and see? Might struggle with the DVD though!

That's for you to decide.

No it won't go away. It's certainly not the worst I've seen but if it's bothering you, return.
