Chrome is the better browser but still has issues as mentioned Internet explorer is worst
I can stream bbc HD stuff fine as well as all the American stuff using smart dns all those are fine even on my lower spec laptop It just seems to be aj sports I'm having issues with I emailed them about it but they basically told me to do a speed test Which I have numerous times and know my connection is always between 25-30mbps with virgin firbre I have the latest flash installed and all my drivers are up to date Latest chrome and ie 10 I'm just hoping somebody can point me in the right direction as I am totally stumped I can't believe for a minute that my httpc machine isn't good enough to be able to stream the content It even happens on the non HD channels It's very strange as I know I can stream bbc etc mentioned above absolutely perfectly with no stutters or connection issues ION NVIDIA , get it running but no smooth at all , 90% UN-Watchable. was told to update chipset & graphic card drivers , i actually did get an improvment but nothing special. i really think its no to good doing ALJAZ , just to mention , i have XBMC running smoothly with 720P streams , netflix , bbc , itv and so. tried all browsers , results varies. hope we find a solution somehow. |

That's the only thing I can think at the moment. |

same here on a ACER REVO.
ION NVIDIA , get it running but no smooth at all , 90% UN-Watchable. was told to update chipset & graphic card drivers , i actually did get an improvment but nothing special. i really think its no to good doing ALJAZ , just to mention , i have XBMC running smoothly with 720P streams , netflix , bbc , itv and so. tried all browsers , results varies. hope we find a solution somehow. The same streams would work fine via XBMC but not from a browser EDIT: oh and it was running Windows 7 32 bit so the previous posters remarks about 64 bit wont apply to anyone getiing bad streaming on a Revo and possibly other pc's. I would also add the 2nd pc I mentioned in an earlier post that was getting the odd glitche has all but been cured by selecting the display to 720p and 50hz refresh rate, although I doubt this fix would work for those suffering serious problems |

To watch al jazeera on tv or projector, you only need a HDMI cable from pc to tv or projector right?

Presuming your HDMI out from the PC has audio included, yes. Not all Windows PCs or Laptops do.
Aslo a extra question: Would there be a big difference in streaming quality if i use a HD7870 over a HD5850 graphic card? |

As far as I know, SmartDNS has not been recently configured for iOS and I don't think either for Android. That could be the problem.
I suspect Overplay will wait until the new iOS app is updated before configuring it, as everything will probably change when that comes out. As I don't do much with Android at the moment, I can't really say for that one. |

I just had a chat with the guys at Overplay they said Virgin media home hub is a ISP hardcore Router, which will not allow you to change DNS Settings on it.
So that's the router settings up the @&£) for me lol I'll have to either change them every time I log into AJS or just have one device left with the Egypt DNS settings |

Thought I'd Update My General Summary
Hello All,
BOLD = UPDATE I will try to summaries what it said and the options i went for For me it was between the New Zealand Premier League Pass or the Al Jazeera sports Pass for watching premier league games. (I am based in the UK) The New Zealand sports pass was a little bit cheaper but not much and the al jazeera included a lot more content: Includes: American MLS Argentinean Primera División Brazilian Série A Copa Sudamericana Dutch Eredivisie English Championship (inc 3pm Saturday) English FA Cup English League Cup English Premier League (inc 3pm Saturday) Euro's French Ligue 1 International Friendlies (inc England Games) Italian Cup (Copa Italia) Italian Serie A Mexican Primera División Russian Premier League Scottish Premier League Spanish Copa Del Rey Spanish Primera División Swiss Super League UEFA Champion's League UEFA Europa Cup World Club Championships World Cup Qualifiers To use both of these services you will need Overplay's SmartDNS service. It's really easy to use and costs $5 a month. I bought 3 months of it because I would need it for both AJS and PLP. You don't need to download any software, it just involves changing your DNS settings (takes 1 minute and very easy). IT USED TO BE THE CASE THAT YOU NEEDED AN EGPYTIAN VPN TO SIGN UP FOR ALJAZEERA, THIS ISNT TRUE ANYMORE, SMARTDNS WILL SUFFICE. In the meantime, while waiting for the prem to start, I have also tried the free Chrome plugin Hola Unblocker. This worked for a few hours then it gave me the geoblocked issue again, so had to revert back to Overplay SmartDNS which works perfectly I have bought 1 months worth of AJS and have been pretty impressed. I look forward to seeing the streaming quality once the HD channels are properly upgraded (later this month) to approx 4000kbps (which is higher than the highest PLP bit rate). The HD Channels have now been updated! and they have added 5 new channels on top of that! Unfortunately my internet here isn't quite good enough to get the highest, although the mid high (2500 kbps) [see screenshot below!] is fantastic (will get fibre optic soon and then I'll be laughing) http://imgur.com/4VBe3uf To check your network speed, a free tool such as NetWorx should suffice. Or you can (on windows) and right click on start bar and go to task manager (or ctrl+alt+delete) and go to networking tab, then work out your download speed from network utilization as percentage of total adapter speed Most games on AJS have an english commentary track which you can switch to, which is good, and can scroll back or pause throughout the whole day which is great for watching a game you missed. (every premier league game will have English commentary). I have a pretty powerful computer and only average internet connection but the streams play beautifully and smooth on Chrome (firefox was a bit stuttery for me, will be different for everyone) This seems to be pretty standard for most people, so use Safari or Chrome You can pay for both AJS and Overplay via PayPal which is good It's also possible to get an AJS app on the appstore or for android and stream via your phone, but PLP does not have an app YET (will be released soon). I have recently tried the updated AJS app on my Nexus 4 (android) and the only channels which stream for me on it are the global ones. Other people seem to be reporting other issues with this app too which is a bit rubbish. The Iphone/Ipad app is due a large update soon, and that app too has a history of being hit and miss. In summary: My recommendation Buy 3 months of Overplay http://www.overplay.net/#a_aid=SignUpForDNS Buy 1 month of AJS at $19 https://secure.en.aljazeerasport.tv/buy (you will need Overplay's SmartDNS to subscribe) If at the end of that month you are happy or want to try a 1 day pass of premier league pass do it The price for AJS by next month is $120 down from $135 for the season, so you're only paying $4 extra to try for a month then buy the season rather than commit for the season which is good If this information has been useful for you, could you sign up via overplay via my link below please http://www.overplay.net/#a_aid=SignUpForDNS Regards, --jr-- |

Just a little info about download speeds... It gets confusing because byte and bit are different. There are 8 bits in a byte. Advertisers = not nice guys. Your internet speed is 8mbps (megabits per second) This equates to an ACTUAL download speed of 1mps (megabyte per second [this is the speed you see when you donwload a file in your browser]) So 4000kbps (roughly is 4mbps) isnt quite your full 6mbps so in theory you should be fine The equivalent download is 500kbs (kiloBYTES per second) (not quite your 1mbs [megabyte]) Mine not currently hitting hte big 4000 could also be because temporarily my computer is connected via a piss poor wireless connection and when i get closer to the router/plug in via Ethernet i will be fine Remember you can get just a 1 month sub of AJS to try it out for $19 (then after that month the price for the rest of season drops by $15) You will still need Overplay though http://www.overplay.net/#a_aid=SignUpForDNS Hope this helps, --jr-- |

Hmm, are you by any chance using Windows 7 64bit?
I don't think AJS works with the Flash in that scenario, and a 32bit browser is required. That's the only thing I can think at the moment. Do you think if I switch to 32 bit it will sort the issues out? I can give it a whirl to test if you think it could e the problem |

It doesn't have to cost the earth. It just depends on the logistics and what hardware you've got. I've just hooked up my laptop to the tv from the other side of the room with a 10 metre hdmi cable which only cost £10 from Amazon.
