On Twitter last month Richard Keys said they'd be showing EPL next season, as well as Champions League for the next five years.

Regarding the Saturday 3pm kick-offs he said, "I don't expect same problems again.", ie. they should be showing all matches again.

The new prices look decent.

I ended up skipping BeIN last season and went with another provider.
Did we ever manage to resolve their "blocked geo-location" issues and resolve the issues with stream quality? I believe they were supposed to be upgrading their streams to 4000kbps. Did that happen?

I'm sure there will be a few new streaming options this season... That's the way technology is progressing, so it will be interesting to see what comes up

Cheers.

They haven't upgraded to 4000kbps yet.
As for the geoblockling, that was sorted out. It works again even with Hola now..
The stream quality, on the other hand, wasn't always good. But decent overall.

What are the PLP prices for this season? Need to decide which route I'm going to go for this season. Although £75 for a full season + CL football using beIN is very tempting.

The Star Sports India coverage was unbeatable value - does anyone know whether they will retain the PL rights for the upcoming season?

I think they have the rights for 3 years starting last season so i would think that they still have the games this season.

Great news if that turns out to be the case. Thanks.

Thanks. Any idea what the bitrate was in the end? PLP were doing 4000+kbps streams if I recall. Although they're not competing, BeIN need to improve there streaming quality.

Yep, they will. Every broadcaster signed a 3 year deal with the PL, starting last year. The PL always setup their contracts in 3 year chunks. The only thing that would stop them fulfilling that is a breach of contract or bankruptcy. Wouldn't be surprised if Star Sports charged more this season though.

Prices aren't up yet. It'll be interesting to see if they put the prices up/down.

@icebergx: max stream quality on Bein is still 2.4kbps (which should be 720p).

Just been re-reading through the thread - has beIN stopped the use of Airplay from an iPad to Apple TV?

Because that is a major deal for me.

Was the bitrate stable, Lylina? I know PLP was rock-solid at 4000kbps.
In my experience bitrate matters more than resolution for video streaming. Did most people end up using a VPN or just the various DNS services?

You were able to Airplay mirror last season. Wasn't amazing though.

No, they definitely don't. PL games only. no CL, Football League, etc. They had La Liga though...

2.4kbps is stable most of the times. otherwise 1.5kbps

DNS services are the way to do. There're a dozen out there. The cheaper one is Adfreetime (1.99$/month) but they don't cover mobile apps, only browser.

and the price went down. 1 month sub used to cost 19$, now it's 13$.

Anyone who thinks that DNS with Bein is sorted will be disappointed.

Of course the PL relaxed the war on DNS users after the first half of last season.

Expect the same this season.

Don't be expectant and plan alternatives if you can.

I'm going to try other services because that geo-blocked mess was more trouble than it was worth.

I agree - dns usage relaxed to get you to part with your cash. Game one - gone. Mark my words. Or his words above

I never had problems using DNS since the rebrand.

Sometimes I would experience quality drops. My solution was changing the DNS address, either using another service (there's plenty that offers free trials) or using another server from the same service (for example, Unotelly offers several different dns servers). It always did the trick for me.

I also watched the world cup on Bein., pretty much every game. No problems at all.

And tbh I don't see them (beinsports) messing around too much - and IF they do, it will be a matter of hours before the dns services sort it out and unblock the website again.
We shall see. At least now the monthly sub costs less so I will go for that instead of buying the season pass. So I can just un-sub if things go south for any reason.
