No problems using DNS here either last year, had 2 weeks of down time around the re-brand, other than that watching by i-pad, and air playing to apple tv was faultless

I never had problems using DNS since the rebrand.

Sometimes I would experience quality drops. My solution was changing the DNS address, either using another service (there's plenty that offers free trials) or using another server from the same service (for example, Unotelly offers several different dns servers). It always did the trick for me.

I also watched the world cup on Bein., pretty much every game. No problems at all.

And tbh I don't see them (beinsports) messing around too much - and IF they do, it will be a matter of hours before the dns services sort it out and unblock the website again.
We shall see. At least now the monthly sub costs less so I will go for that instead of buying the season pass. So I can just un-sub if things go south for any reason.
Thats such a pain to keep changing DNS when on an ipad or even getting up from the couch to change the address during the live match on a laptop.

Also last season I cannot recall any DNS provider sorting out problems in a matter of hours.

Too much hassle.

Like I said before the premier league force the restrictions of course the world cup will work fine. The rebrand happened when most of the season was over.

rebrand happened 1st of jan, wouldn't say most of the season was over.

i dunno about ipad, i dont own an apple device.

i can say that changing dns on a pc takes a second with an apposite software and the same does apply to android.

Thought I'd try a beIN one month trial as need access to CL games for next season.

Is it normal for the EPG to say one programme, then when you actually watch that channel - it's something completely different!

Also, do they show all PL games on a Saturday, so the 12:45 - 3:00 - 5:30 games?

For most of last season they only showed just one of the 3pm kickoffs. As for the other games, they showed everything

I had bein sports last year the dns company had issues on the first game so I ditched them and made a change I never had one problem other than the rebrand which is understandable. It does help to have a backup and star sports is a good option it's only about 5 quid and the quality actually got a lot better with their "live-pro" streams towards the end of the season steady stream no buffering. Granted quality wasn't flawless but a good backup. I have every confidence it will be okay this year.

Actually I just checked out one of their free streams and they have upgraded the quality to 2.000kbps, which is HD 720p! pretty good i would say considering that it costs basically nothing.. i will probably subscribe to both bein and starsports

It has improved considerably from basically unwatchable buffering all the time to a reasonable quality. If bein fails it's a good to have for 6 quid a season

looking for a bit of help if possible please?

Ive been looking to subscribe to start sports to get coverage of the english premier league, but im not sure how to go about subscribing

i have logged onto starsports.com and clicked onto the subscribe tab at the top of the page which takes me to http://account.starsports.com/star-package
with a message of "No packages available to be purchased."

the other question i have is what would be the most stable way of getting the football on my tv( that has an hdmi slot), i have a basic tablet so would it be possible to connect the tablet to the tv and watch the football that way?
sorry im a novice to all this and any help would be greatly appreciated

The football season has yet to start so they are not offering any football package/subscription. They should soon, though.

Thanks for your input on this thread Lylina, I think you do a good job responding to peoples questions. However, your comment above is misleading. 2000kbps is not HD720p. Resolution and bitrate are two separate components that determine picture quality. you can have 1080p running at 1000kbps but the framerate might be severely reduced or the level of detail limited. If you take an SD picture and blowup the resolution to 720p, you have 720p, but the actual picture will not be better.

Either way, I'm glad Star Sports have upped their streams to 2000kbps. I'm sure they'll perform reasonably well at that level.

The 2k streams look good, are quick to reach 2k (for me at least) and are, for me most importantly, smooth!

Last season you were able to airplay mirror, but not actual Airplay.

Maybe the reason why the beinsport subscription has been reduced is that they are only going to show one 3pm premier league game

Yeah id hold off subscribing to them until this is confirmed it didn't click that this could be the reason for the reduced price. Star sports seems to have upped their game so that's definitely the way to go if it is smooth like to was towards the end of last year.

They have the rights to show all the games. They just need to prove to the PL that their platform is secure. It would be silly of them to pay all that money for the rights and not try to get their act in order, so that they can show all the games.

Is it possible that they could stream all games just for satellite based systems and just one for online systems
