We always knew that their servers would struggle with the demand. I don't think they will do much about this either as once they have your money they tend to do as they please. We shall see though - it should be a really simple case of just upping bandwidth allowances and purchasing more server racks. We shall see.

To automatically login to Al-Jazeera Sport and not need to keep typing in your username or clicking login each time you open it up
Copy the following into your favourite notepad/textpad text editor, replace username and password fields, and save as .html and just open it with your favorite browser

If everyone with AJS contacts them and asks them to decrease limitations to 4000kbps streams or add a button to choose which bit rate, we might get somewhere soon [[many of us have computers/internet capable of it]
I have already asked them

Email Overplay and tell them of the issue. The more of us that raise it the more likely they are to work on it.

So Al Jazeera promotes, that you can continue watching stream from pause. So 3 hours later i came back with beer and silence. Game on! 15 seconds it worked until it freezes. Whatta ****? Then i navigate to archieve of games, but empty with Premier League full games.

Lucky that i did get PremierLeaguePass“s free day pass, so site open and voila! Game on again! And what a picture! Thats so cool and 30fps (tested with Fraps). Here is the sample: http://www.mediafire.com/download/qf...PLP_SAMPLE.avi

Now im consider to ask refund from Al Jazeera and jumping to PLP, because watcing games afterforward is very important to me. Let see what they answer me. Even so, im gonna buy also PLP, because my AJS is only for 3 months, so not so big deal. PLP is going to release support for ipad app to AirPlay, so i can watch games also from TV. Now i cant, because my TV (or computer) doesent support 10m HDMI cable. And AJS is not going to get support for AirPlay for their Ipad app.”

Since you got both AJS and PLP which would you say has the better quality? I read somewhere that PLP doesn't stream in HD but from your sample it looks very good.

Well it wasn't perfect but I'm reasonably happy with AJS today,
even though I have free BT Sports with VM I ended up switching over to AJS for the Liverpool game as the amatuerish Michael Owen and Mark Halsey were getting on my nerves, like most people I could only get the 3 meg stream and going from broadcast HD to this the picture quality obviously wasn't anywhere near as good but it was still very watchable.
I know I'm in a minority here but I also enjoyed seeing Andy Gray and Richard Keys back on screen doing the studio work.
I then had the Arsenal game on via AJS and again could only top out at the 3 meg stream, twice it defaulted to the lowest quality stream during the game but this lasted no more than 30 seconds before ramping up again.
As I said it wasn't perfect but all in all very watchable and even in these early days for the service better than ADMC last season

That sample was recap, it may be better quality than live stream. If it is same stuff, i can tell my view:

Well AJS has little bit better quality, but within game quality can drob suddenly to mesh, framerate wasnt smooth. PLP didnt have that problem and PLP“s framerate was better for my eye. Nice quality with PLP all the way, not HD but between SD and HD. PLP are consider 4500kbs stream option, but its big maeby.

I must admit, after trying PLP today with their free trial, I was impressed with their service. Quality was rock-solid 3000kbps throughout with no "step down".

I compared it to Sky Go for the Man U game. Despite the fact that i have a solid 30mbps connection via ethernet, Sky Go only want to allow me a 2/4 bar connection... There was no option to select a higher bitrate.
The quality was watchable, but not great... I'd give it 5/10 compared to PLP's 8/10

Al Jazeera on 2 x ACER REVO's L70 AND L80 - Rubbish on both - stutter city.

As I mentioned on the other thread - NBC SPORT through a slingbox is 110 percent HD - no stuttering, jagged edges etc - just sublime !! This is the one for me - albeit I understand not an option available to the mass public.

Advice from me - pick up an old DELL XPS 420 from ebay - stick a cheap HDMI graphics card in it and uncle bob is here - by the way can anybody recommend me a hdmi card for my XPS 420 - I assume its just plug one out and plug new one in ?

Not too techy I'm afraid..............

These DELL XPS 420 arent cheap... plus a bit to big to stick next to the TV..
any other suggestions?

yup. few people (including myself) have raised tickets at overplay about it. Only seems to work using a vpn on iOS.

I found 2 on ebay for around £100.......loads at around £150...........and a few around £200.

With regards to the Lenovo 190 - I would stick with the i3 version - just because its been tried and tested (by me) with al jazeera etc........

Its a shame about the revo's..........but not a surprise as they struggle with hd netflix as well.

didn't watch Liverpool game as bt sport free on virgin media xl so watched in hd on projector, superb quality, and excellent game.

moving on to 3pm AJ ok at 2.45, problem started just before 3.00pm then logged in too many times so locked out.

emailed them and with a few minutes was reset and managed to get in, although lost around 15 minutes by then
watched west ham v cardiff game, wish I hadn't crap match and wrong result!!

quality very good though not hd but certainly as good as sd on satellite. By the way watching on 50" screen

later, then watched Swansea v man u picture very good sound way out though.

so overall experience very good certainly in comparison to ADMC last year.

still cant get my ipad to work without VPN though even after update which is a shame.

Yes so you will need to drop overnet a ticket telling them about this issue. They seem like a decent company so I'm sure the more that highlight this issue, the more likely it is to get solved.

Ok, now that the season has started, and I could test actual live streams, I've gone and published my review on PremierLeaguePass.com to sit aside the Al Jazzera Review.

Maybe this can help people decide.

Video quality seems to be about the same as AJS, although I did notice things got a little messy when there was a closeup of a player right next to the electronic advertising panels.

Still, AJS also had this issue.

PSP.com are still "saying" that their iOS app will support AirPlay, which could be a deciding factor for many. But unlike AJS, their app is not yet available.

AJS is working with AirPlay atm here in Finland. Some guy reports yeasterday, that AirPlay did work but hdmi not. Strange thing is that iPhones AirPlay was better quality than iPads. Yesterday iPad app did use VPN, but this morning some guy reports that iPad app can be used also with dns with way better stream quality and better smootheness but still not smooth (framerate) as from TV. This may need more reports from all around the world. I will be give a shot in 3 hours and i will tell you about it. So big questions to test:
- does iPad app work with dns finally
- does AirPlay work as mentioned
- is there English commentary availeble by selection in iPad app.

With arabic commentary i can live with, but without smooth picture via AirPlay, i select PLP for rest of the season, but their iOS app should come soon, so i can test it.

Good reviews.

Agreed. I couldn't really see any different between AJS and PLP.

Also see artifacts when the movement is quick and infront of the electronic advertising panels.

Not sure how people can compare this to HD. After you watched a game, switch to a HD TV channel and you will see the difference.

Can someone explain why using a different browser (on the same machine) would make a different? I would have thought that at the end of the day it's Flash, so the browser shouldn't make a difference.

Saying that I will give Waterfox a go.
