Someone more techy can probably add more detail to this, but basically Flash is quite a memory intensive application. Some of the buffering / speed / blurring images can be caused by the lack of graphics processing power, so on a shared chipset allowing more processing power to flash and the rest of the PC should keep the stream more stable.

I think this is how it works. I'm sure someone can correct / improve.

Waterfox is using 64bit flash?

Can't get onto AJS this morning. Does their site always do this? Seems like the site tends to be down quite often.

My ipad app is not working right. It gives "Loading video" top of the actual stream. Stream quality is worse atm. Im with VPN at the moment, didnt get it working with DNS, have to wait other reports. AJS webpage is running normal here also.

It did start to work after 15mins of struggling to load the web page. Either their servers can't handle the load or it's a DNS issue with overplay

Does anybody know how many non MENA residents are using AJ this season? Seems like they're raking it in because everybody seems to be jumping on board! I know loads of people who have gone down that route instead of Sky/BT.

Geoblocked means you don't have SmartDNS configured correctly. It's nothing to do with having an account locked out. If you tell them you're geoblocked, you're basically telling them you're accessing their site from outside the Middle East!

Can't imagine it's too many... a few thousand I reckon. Nothing to base that on other than people are sheep and tend to follow others.
It's probably a drop in the water for AJS anyway... They're huge.
What's going to be really interesting is in 3 years, when (in all likelihood) AJS will go up against Sky for the UK rights. That is going to be interesting!

What speeds are you getting on this HD feed at the moment? Just clocked mine at getting up to 3.6meg however averaging just over 3.

I'm having issues with my smart dns/al jazeera

The guy on overplay claims that he loads up every time he try's on his iPad with his smart dns. I am not so lucky I get rights restrictions or the stream starts to load then goes back to the channel screen. I've tested overplay smart dns using the test tool and its working correctly.

The only thing left is that either smart dns is not working correctly or Al Jazeera think I'm outside their region because a vpn connection works albeit slowly. There are others with this issue.

Ah, the iPad app barely ever works for me either. That is an overplay issue as far as I can tell. Although its strange that it does work once in a while.

It is very strange, thought its not worked today, it has to be overplay not working with the app. Though they are strongly denying it being them.

Well I just tried my iPhone and it actually came up with a message that I'm in an unsupported country.

@Robbo18, how does it work on a browser? As far as I know, the iOS app is not configured for SmartDNS yet. Keep in mind that the app was just updated yesterday (a weekend) and the normal Overplay techs who check all this will probably be out enjoying their weekend as well.

There could also be a conflict of information between the new app and the old.

(although I am not 100% sure, I think most of the times someone responds after hours from Overplay, it will be people at the datacenter where the servers are kept. These technicians can help with level 1 issues, but anything deeper and it needs to go to a real techie from Overplay itself)

As for the browser experience, that should be working. I tested it several times today with no issues, other than a bit of a delay before the stream starts.

Email them and make sure you explain the problem. They seem to be suggesting to me that they are working on looking if it is an issue.

I just signed up for a 8 day unotelly.com it's compatable with Al Jazeera sports (not premier league pass) and I have to say streams worked straight away and are of a much better quality on my iPad it's not like watching Lego football. It's definitely a overplay issue!

So that's something else to put into the email then. I honestly think the will sort it so long as we make it clear what the issue is so they can actually solve it.
