Yes, you can airplay from an iPad but it also depends on how your NBC subscription is setup.
My understanding is that NBC is usually part of the subscription packages offered by the various cable operators in the US. As a result, there are two ways you can access NBCSN:
1) directly, via the NBC SN app on iOS/Addroid
2) via the app from you cable operator (Comcast, TWC, etc.)
Comcast's Xfinity TV Go app is supposed to be very good, but I don't have my sub with them, I have it with TWC, so I use the NBC SN app. It's difficult to say which is better because I haven't tried both, but NBC SN works ver well for me... I'd say it was around the 3750kbps that Xfinity gets, but I haven't measured it.
One thing to note, the NBC SN app airplay's fine for me, but I have a jailbroken device with a few tweaks installed. I'm not sure if the NBCSN app allows you to airplay natively. Perhaps someone else can answer this?
