The AJS website went under strain around 3pm yesterday, understandably for the opening weekend. The streams however were not affected and the quality shouldnt have been affected. MAke sure you were connecting by SmartDNS and not VPN.
When choosing to watch a game, maybe don't just try all the channels! At the top click "LIVE" and then you can click on an event. Here you normally get the stream in the native language (and without channel logos!)
Most games DO have an english commentary! If the game is live it almost certainly will. It's when you are watching a replay of a game that english commentary is not available. If you really want to watch that game with english commentary, use the schedule and find out when its been on different channels then scroll back to that time or just load it as an event and english commentary should be available. (I always find Ligue 1 games not live don't have englsih but when they are live they do have english!)”

And I would agree with you and this is also what the guy from overplay has said. But this does not explain why when I enable smart dns test it's working using the smart dns page, log into Al Jazeera and get a stream playing after messing about for a while to be greeted with a Lego quality game of football. Overplay say its not them.
I tried this new service for the second day of the season with great success in terms of stream quality and the application works straight away, today the quality is still the same I have opened a ticket with overplay and they do not want to know.
So less of the misinformation the service for me is obviously slowing the connection down to a point where I can only hear audio on my iPad whereas the unotelly service works a treat, I posted to help people who where struggling with the overplay service.

Yeap... they just disappeared over the last hour or so. I suspect AJS are having a few teething problems.

Yes I noticed that today!
They are still there but you cannot see the icons for HD3, HD4 and so on, but if you click the arrow to the right it just shows a blue space, click that blue space as if the icons for the rest of the HD channels were there and they load up, weird but they are there, you just can't see the icons for HD3456

Robbo, are you totally sure that you didn't have the Overplay VPN running? I've never experienced quality as you describe. Once or twice it has come off the top quality, but that has been very rare.
Otherwise, the only explanation I can think of is that the Overplay SmartDNS is telling AJS that you're in a different country than the Unotelly SmartDNS. That may mean that you are consequently being connected to a host in an alternative country for the streams.
By the way, thanks for pointing out that alternative service. I'll give them a try as it seems I would also get a VPN service included for a dollar extra than I'm paying Overplay.

100% I only use overplay for their smart dns. It was dodgy for the whole time I used it for Al Jazeera on my iPad ,it is still that way now after raising countless tickets I think I've been referred higher than escalations the department just says [private]. I hope they sort it because they have been good in adding new services and I've been with them for a year but they seem to be trying to blame my Internet bandwidth for the issue at the moment, despite me saying other services work okay.

My iPhone was ok with the app earlier, but my iPad still won't work. Tried UnoDNS and it worked straight away.
I've been with Overplay for a year too, and I've not been impressed by their support. Up for renewal next week, and it looks like I may go with UnoDNS.
Yes mine is in the same private department. They did have the ipad working - however now not working at all.

My ipad is receiving decent pic and sound from aj app, but when using airplay to tv only getting sound???sound only on tv via airplay,does not seem to want transfer pic to TV, just got AJ home screen pic on TV

Watching man city Newcastle game on iPad through overplay DNS and getting the best pic I've had so far. Thanks to all who emailed overplay if that indeed was the trigger to fix it. Can't comment on AirPlay.
Hope now ajs iron out bugs in the app; hd buttons missing for me as well.
One question, on the ajs website try list the live events as being on the specific hd channels, but on the app it just says .tv, do you know if I can tell from schedule in app what had channel a match is on?

I think that normally means that you need to visit http://www.overplay.net/myaccount.php?t=smartdns because your IP address has changed... make sure you close and restart the app afterwards?

70 min of smooth besides of 4 times all picture becomes blurred for about 10-20 seconds , then cleared up . any ideas ?

Just emailed AJS about missing HD channels on iPad and iPhone apps and they said it was under maintainence and a new built in version will be released very soon
