To those using NBC on ATV- What's the best DNS service to use? Trying unblock us at the moment and live streams and some (but not all) replays are giving an error. Works fine through a VPN router

The horizontal channels are extremely tricky to pick up in the UK - and it just so happens, that's why they put beIN Sports 1-4 and 11-14 on H instead of V transponders.

You also have to accommodate for weather conditions. A cloudy day could lose a minimum of 10% signal straight away. If it rains, you're screwed.

Was speaking to a chap in the southwest who has a 2m dish and he receives all the channels perfectly in good weather but when it rains, he loses everything.”

theres a guy on the sat forums here called pedro and has his own business purplesat he's the man to goto for everything on this, got 2 local pubs here using 1.2m dishes and still have good rain margins.

Hi all,

I'm looking for something to watch all pl games next season. In terms of best quality with HD streaming I should be looking at nbc sports on the apple TV. Is that correct or is there something better out there?

I've only got a dns service atm I'm guessing I'll need to purchase a vpn to get no buffering issues?

Will the current apple TV work with nbc sports or I have to get an older model? I heard that the nbc streams on a laptop is in lower quality otherwise I would use that. I don't have an apple TV but will get it if it's worth using for the football!

I'd say it's the best option but you need the ATV, VPN router (if using VPN) AND a U.S. cable login to access NBCSN.

I'm close to going down the vpn route myself am sick of verizon locking me out then unotelly not understanding it is their proxys that get blocked not me as my free tunnelbear vpn connects no problem.
Am trying unlocator at mo so far no problems.

Oh so I need to configure the router and can't do it on the device for vpn? I probably don't want to do that since vpn is a lot slower.

Does anyone here use nbc sports with dns without having any issues? I'm on adfreetime they support nbc apparently.

I'm using a VPN router in addition to my regular router - only for Apple tv. HD streams perfectly, not one buffer at all on any app.

So far nbcsports has worked flawlessly with unlocator, the big tests comes in August when the pl starts up again but i think it'll be ok.
For a vpn smart dns combo cactus vpn looks good at $6.99p/m for a smart dns and a vpn, this is the one i'm thinking of taking as they have a app that you can download to your pc/laptop which sets the vpn up automatcally and has the option to turn the vpn on or off as desired.

So I managed to get hold of an nbc account from a friend but am experiencing a lot of buffering with it on the live channel.

I'm guessing my dns doesn't work well with nbc

I will try out unalocator. Can anyone else recommend some dns services to try who are using nbc sports ?

Sky/BT in the UK and NBC in the U.S. are the main providers. Then you have the likes of Bein, Astro and CTH which cover the areas like the UAE and Thailand.

Before spending too much money on new hardware its worth noting NBC only have the rights for one more season and no-one knows yet who will have the US rights after the 2015-2016 campaign.

If your laptop has HDMI out and Windows 8.1 on it then the NBC Live Extra app in the Windows store gives a very acceptable picture, I'd liken it to better than Sky Sports SD on cable but not as good as the HD channel.
You will have the added bonus of of not needing another router and just changing DNS settings on your laptop or running some VPN software.

It's weird I'm trialling unotelly and it works great on my ipad but when I try on the website on my laptop the stream never stays in good quality. Maybe an apple TV will perform similarly to the ipad. I'm also waiting for the app to get released on kodi

If you have Windows 8.1 try the Windows app on the laptop, its vastly superior to the website version

EDIT:
if one of these is your provider it looks like there's a beta out of the Kodi app

TV Providers
Comcast
Direct TV
Dish
Time Warner Cable

Download the beta plugin... http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?...59&pid=1822548

Enable it, and in the config options add your username and password for Comcast.

Turn your VPN/DNS on and away you go

Set up my ATV with friends account for all the channels made available via cable account info in the U.S. I use smartdnsproxy and I'm finding no problem with ethernet connection but varies via wireless.

Please god she rocks come August.
