I've Bein for the Champions League, PLP for league games. I've also access to SkyGo and the BT Sports app (though not BT Sport Europe) so I've got as many bases covered as I can without having a US-cable login for NBC.

Anyone know why when I go onto Starsport's website it says no subscriptions are available to be purchased?

same for us all I think.

but to answer your question, do I don't know why

steering clear of PLP after last year.

I spoke to unblock-us about star sports as personally I thought the streaming quality wasn't great. They said they didn't think that situation would improve this year and its down to start sports architecture.

This sounds like BS to me, starsports was excellent for me last year, as shown in this picture taken, streaming from my old iphone 4 to 40 inch TV using the AV adaptor from apple.

PLP have emailed me terms of cancellation a stipulating 3 days notice requirement, if they withdraw my account I'll just request a cancellation of my subscription. It doesn't seem that much of a risk to me.

I use Overplay DNS, I find that things like Hola tend to randomly disconnect itself. I've never had any problems with it in terms of connection or quality of picture, Neflix runs in HD with no problem.

That's interesting to know and could put fears to rest that PLP will swindle people out of their cash.

Cheers for this info mate.

When i looked last week it was £23 a month up from £ 12 or £13 on sky as a standalone service if your on BT you can get it for £5”

Or if you have BT infinity 1 or 2 get the bt tv starter which is a one off £14 fee and then its free that too includes all BT sport channels and red button services this is something i'm considering.

I gave it a brief thought, but I've had various family members & friends who switched to BT and had nothing but grief.

Add that I'm getting a full 152mb from VM, I couldn't give that up.

It could be causing a bottleneck depending how old it actually is. However a CPU upgrade would most likely be better (and more ram). Also depending how it's networked upgrading to a wired connection rather than a wifi always helps

A new ATV is rumoured to be released in September. I'm hoping it supports HEVC and that various sports streams take advantage of the codec to bump streams up to 50 or 60 frames. That should make them buttery smooth.

Ive found the streams on my apple tv 3 or iphone via airplay to be brilliant far better than anything ive ever seen on android. I was hoping they would release a new apple tv sooner rather than later but i got sick of waiting so i bought a second box last night.

I'm just checking out the sample video of PremierLeaguePass and I'm a little dissapointed with the quality even when I pick 3000. Is this sample the normal quality or is it better than this normally?

The sample is very old and a true reflection on the quality they have now

Fair enough. It has been mentioned on the tread several times but I accept that no one is going to sit there and read 250+ pages of "back and forth." I was more annoyed at the other guy

Hmmm... Never heard of them before. Any good? how's their Customer service? Always good to have another potential service to use. Doesn't support PLP from what I could see but NBC SE was covered.

Are the extra fps really necessary for TV? I know gamers swear by them but what fps are regular HD streams on Sky TV?

If you don't mind taking the risk with PLP, the picture quality is the best of any service out there, without doubt. Ignore the sample.

The actual games are 4500kbps. All the other programming produced by PLTV is 3000kbps. It's the best quality and the only way it will get better is if Neulion start providing H.265 transcodes (aka HEVC).

That would be possible if the new ATV supports HEVC even if it doesn't do 4K and if you were also able to get the PLP app on the ATV natively (ATV App Store).

I think the actual broadcast feed is 25fps but duplicating each frame and delivering 50 frames will make the frame timing more consistent over an Internet stream and so it will be smoother. I've seen a 50fps feed on a dodgy site of Sky chans and it shit all over Sky Go of which I got to sample on a weekend pass trial.

Bumping the stream from 30fps to 50fps is a 66% increase which means the bitrate would need to go from 4500kbps to 7500kbps. PLP are never going to stream at such a high bitrate but with H.265 being almost 2x as efficient you could make that jump without needing to go above 4500kbps.

I know Neulion purchased Divx and have been trying to stream Sports in 4k at 50 or 60fps. They streamed an NBA game in 4k in collaboration with BT earlier in the year. I think that was 15mb/s in the H.265 codec at high frame rate. I hope they are eager to provide h.265 streams for all of the sports they cover especially Iftar new ATV supports that codec and gives them that platform.

Thanks for the replies. Might take the week option to test this weekend and then go for the monthly one based on that

It's definitely one of the better options to go for.

I know it's not premier league but does anyone know any online services that show English Championship matches? Quite eager to watch Sheffield Wednesday v Bristol City on Saturday!

Just tested PLP and works perfectly, got me through to the signup/login page whereas in another browsers without Unlocator activated I get just the "Sadly, PremierLeaguePass is not available in your region" page. Just search the Unlocator "channels & devices" page and PLP is there https://unlocator.com/channel/premier-league-pass/

TBH I've never had cause to communicate with them so couldn't say how their customer service is, guess in one way that's a testament to how stable their service is!

Hi was wondering what bein is like I'm tempted to sign up and try.

Which location did you opt for when signing up?

Thanks

My 1st choice for this season would be NBCSN but I have no desire to pay for cable just for a single channel - wish they had an online subscription package! Guess I'm looking at PLP. Is there a PLP app that will allow me to watch the games on my TV screen via the Amazon Fire? e.g. a Kodi plugin?
