You can set the dns separately on your apple tv or via your router to save time.

Hi

Okay i thought i had cracked this 3pm kick off problem in the simplest way possible.

ROKU 3 box with NBC Sport Live extra channel.

Picture is absolutely beautiful.............BUT - bloody app is useless - keeps dropping picture - absolute nightmare - checked USA forums and people in the states having same problem so nothing to do with dns etc...........

So my question....................is the NBC LIVE EXTRA stable when viewed on a PC ?

I assume you just go to the nbc sport page and log in ?

Out of desperation yesterday I signed up to the monthly option of Prem League Pass - it worked flawlessly for yesterdays game - but is it reliable in the long run - are streams stable at hd quality ? (I know about the risk of getting account blocked - hence the month to month option)

I am going to try the android apk for Prem League Pass on my Fire Tv for todays games - does anybody use this ? I am beginning to think apps are rubbish !

Did I see a Sony Smart Blu Ray Player that could access the Prem League Pass app ? maybe that will be more stable - I want to avoid a pc next to tv if possible. I also have an M8 Android box somewhere - is this any good for PLP or NBC ?

Why avoid a PC next to TV when you can buy this device......http://minix.com.hk/products/neo-z64-windows

A great bit of kit. You can't beat windows for maximum flexibility when it comes to streaming options

The premierleaguepass android app is limited to 1200 kbps if you can i would go with the kodi option this uses the ipad streams at 4500 kbps

I must admit i didnt watch much football yesterday but nbc sports extra was on on my apple iphone airplayed to my apple tv

Would you really want to spend £120 + on a device when you can get the same result your existing equipment the OP already has a firetv this is more than capable of offering reliable streams for both nbc and premierleaguepass you just need to do some homework

Not much homework required with a windows device it gives you all the flexibility and simplicity you need, but if you already have fire TV and use it extensively for other stuff and are committed to the android infrastructure then yes you might want to stick with it rather then have another box under the TV.

Well... year... sort of.

The problem is the UI... it is crap for a sofa-freindly environment. Sure, it may be fine for you, but most people will find it the complete opposite.

Then, there are numerous browser issues.

This is all sort of proven by the fact that:
a) Almost everyone has a PC
b) Almost everyone has a TV

and yet.

c) Almost no one connects their PC to their TV to stream.

For me the only viable option on a pc or laptop would be the nbcsports extra windows 8/10 app i personally would not use there website on a big screen i do have my pc connected to my tv via hdmi but i rarely use it now.

Yes it maybe a dns issue as I have tried NBC on Fire tv and PC with the same issue.

Hopefully the Prem League streams should be fine.

Will try with the 1.30 match later............

Tried NBC with Airplay yesterday and it was pretty good. Is it the same quality as the Apple TV app? It doesn't show up for me so I'm wondering if there's any point investigating or I should just stick to iPad + Airplay.

You need to change your itunes location to USA. All the USA apps will show up then.

Okay update on todays games........

Fire tv with nbc apk sideloaded - opens fine - streaming excellent.
Fire tv with Premier League Pass apk sideloaded - opened fine - streamed really well but quality is NOT hd and is limited to sd.

Fire tv with KODI and NBC app - football would not load - golf was ok - no matches played.
Fire tv with KODI and Prem League Pass app - loaded well and streaming excellent with HD quality.

I tried PHOENIX add on in Kodi - streamed the live soccer option - was NBC Sport and quality was really good.

PC Windows 10 - with Prem League Pass webpage - quality superb.
PC Windows 10 - with NBC SPORT Live app - quality superb.

So - lots better than yesterdays ROKU disaster !!

I have a M8 box thats in a cupboard somewhere so I may dig that out in the week and load the apk's onto that to see the quality.

Virmin MEDIA 152 bband using Unotelly dns.

What router you using mate? Have you configured your smart DNS on devices or on router?

How did you manage that? I've tried everything with the various force airplay hacks and also have tried messing about in Flex, but still haven't been able to get it to airplay successfully. Any tips would be appreciated.

Your problem with Kodi and NBC is the DNS service, you need to use a decent VPN to get it working reliably.

I'd suggest editing out the line "I tried ******* add on in Kodi - streamed the live soccer option - was NBC Sport and quality was really good." from your post, this thread has been closed down in the past for mentioning non legitimate services
