Many VPN company's offer free trials, I would suggest taking those that do up on their offer.
It took me a fair amount of trying different providers and servers to find what works for me,
for example the service I'm using now has many US servers, probably well over 100 but only a few of those servers work reliably, a rule of thumb I use is to look for a low ping and then go to speedtest.net and check not only the speed but that the server is showing in the location it says its in, you need a little bit of US geographical knowledge for that but if a server says its in New York for example then you go on speedtest and it shows up on the west coast (the sea is to the left) you know its no good.
I'd look for something that gives you a constant 20 Mbps or more speed to allow for overheads and the occasional slow down.
As jcm193 said when you find what works for you don't post it in public or sure as eggs is eggs it wont work for long.
Good luck, it takes a while to get something working that you're happy with but its worth the effort.
