I use Safari on OS X - works fine. Also tried Chrome and also works fine.

Also another question for someone who is more tech-inclined than I am.

My CPU usage when streaming on an old Macbook is around the 80% mark. Given my machine is almost 6 years old - would a newer machine improve performance (even though the CPU currently isnt being maxed out?)

Thanks, when you cast a tab can you switch to work on another application or must source remain on Chrome tab?

Further to Alan's question: I know that if you are streaming something officially supported by Chromecast (eg. Netflix) the dongle streams it itself, thereby negating the need for the original source (eg. your laptop). Does anyone know if this is the case when "casting" a tab?

I could see how this could be the case as I understand that the dongle has a simplified version of Chrome OS running on it, so could in theory open its own version of Chrome browser to stream the media.

Are you talking about connecting it to a TV or just watching it on your Macbook? In my experience the MB is no good as pushing out 1080p to my TV, and 720p isn't too smooth.

you hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE and you can switch laptop to use any other app and leave the game meanwhile on FULL SCREEN

My live AJ streams keep stopping today. Was going to watch some US Open tennis in a bit but HD4 just keeps stopping on me!

Not happy with the service at all at the moment. I've not had a bad word to say about it either, up until last night and today!

I'm jailbroken on the iPad 4 with hdmi adapter with no tweaks, it just displays Al Jazeera until I start a stream then it comes on. Try playing the stream then plug the adapter in on mine the iPad screen then says mirroring to tv where the video should be and the video is on the screen

Will give it a try, I used the JB tweak and set it to AJS and it worked after a respring! First time I tried was through my Sony amp so this time I tried straight to a Samsung smart tv, worked fine, I unticked AJS in the tweak app and then it wouldn't work!
So the tweak does make it work on an ipad 2, will try your way later on.

Have you got full screen when streaming to the TV via ipad and hdmi adapter? I only have part of the screen showing, with two black bars down the side. Could you let me know please ?

has anyone got the 4000kbps streams, mine seems to only go upto around 2400kbps ?

Streams keep crashing every two minutes tonight. Really frustrating. I had no problems with the service until yesterday. I'm using Google Chrome on Mac OSX. Unless I hear these problems are fixed I can't imagine I'll be paying for another month - which is really annoying as I was more than happy to keep on with this for the whole season.

Anybody got any idea why the hell AJ keeps freezing on me? It's been doing it all day and it's still happening now.

The channel loads fine, the HD clear up to high quality within seconds but then about 30 seconds in, it'll just stop and I have to reload the page. This is happening every time though so it's impossible to watch anything!

It's been perfect for the past 2 weeks. There's been a few times earlier I've been watching stuff and not had a problem but now it's kicked off again. Seems to be completely hit & miss!

It's not my laptop or broadband connection because AJ has been perfect, as is every other site I use. Just today it's not working!

So it's not just me then!

Everton match was freezing every few seconds but seems to be working again now. It's been happening all evening on HD4 for me as well though because I tried watching some US Open but it was impossible.

nvm fixed my problem.

I have full screen on the tv no black bars and nothing showing on the iPad screen except saying its mirroring to tv. Using an official adapter bought from the apple store. I started out using the tweak app to "unrestrict" the ajs however I had a similar thing with the bars. Ajs updated their application and now without any tweaks I run the stream ensure its already in full screen mode on the iPad and plug the hdmi in last. Works a treat much better than my pc.

Im totally confused now, can u not mirror whats on the ipad 2 screen onto an hdmi tv without it being jailbroken then?? Why does netflix, youtube etc mirror but not ajs, is it encrypted or something?

Works fine for me on my ipad 4. Only tried it once though. Mine is jailbroken but I get a prompt saying the app supports the hdmi adapter so it should work without jailbreak, as I disabled the jailbreak app and let the ipad do it instead. Worked fine full screen no black bars etc
