Which is better quality when streaming to the TV via AirPlay?

At the moment you can't.
but if you go to events rather than tv channels, a lot of games have a .tv which will often be english if say the HD2 version of the game isnt english
if that makes sense?

I know that.
He was interested in selling it to me and not so much on if the box supports ajs so he did a favour to check it out.
If the regular channel works I can't see a reason the other channels don't.
As I heard its the box that has chrome on it so might be aworth a shot

I haven't done side by side tests (and that is not so easy anyway) and besides, I will need to wait until I can view a live match to be sure.

If you are asking which is better quality AirPlay from iPad or PC via HDMI
I would say currently AirPlay is noticeably better since the iOS seem to have the 4000 streams

Is there anyway for someone with an iOS device to confirm that they are receiving the 4000kbps stream? It would be great to (at least) have clarity on that point.

Jo/OVBG, which would you say is the better of the the iOS apps both in terms of streaming quality and functionality, between PLP and AJS, when airplayed to a big screen?

I don't think they are. From personal experience, the quality of the picture is better on the web app, but the iPad app has smoother video.

Tried out the PLP app on the iPad mini this evening and Airplay'd it to the TV via the Apple TV3. It seems to work well. The video is smooth and good quality. A 4.5K stream would be really good but I think we'll have to wait for that one.

I could only try out the stored videos so the acid test will be on Saturday. There is no option to change the bitrate but I'm pretty sure that I'm getting 3000bps based on the quality.

The autolock on the iPad/iPhone needs setting to 'never' or the Airplay will shut down as well.

I started out using the tweak app to "unrestrict" the ajs however I had a similar thing with the bars. Ajs updated their application and now without any tweaks I run the stream ensure its already in full screen mode on the iPad and plug the hdmi in last. Works a treat much better than my pc.”

Im totally confused now, can u not mirror whats on the ipad 2 screen onto an hdmi tv without it being jailbroken then?? Why does netflix, youtube etc mirror but not ajs, is it encrypted or something?[/quote]

I can try on my old iPad 2 that my dad now has for you, I have the hdmi for that too. I know the iPad 4 lightning hdmi connector has some sort cpu inside so this could be something to do with it. Have a read of this its a little interesting it has its own 2gb ram according to this guy

No 4000kbps on iOS, not even HD on HD channels. It looks good on iPad and iPhone screen maybe, but when you airplay it, you'll notice that it's SD. AJS Support said that they will inform all customers after the upgrade is made. But, they also said "very soon" almost two weeks ago.

^^ I can confirm that I'm currently testing approx 1700kbps (basically SD) on iOS AJS at the moment on the replays.

iceberg, As mentioned above, a test this morning on replays, I achieved 1700kbps on AJS, but I also tested PLP at approx 2900kbps.

So today, on the replays I will certainly say PLP.

Also, I find the PLP iOS app to be stable. I have not found any issues in my tests (brief as they were) and it is very easy to use - but of course it offers a lot less (only EPL)

Hope this helps.

If you can afford a day pass to PLP on the weekend, it may help make your decision.

Remember, all tests so far are only on replays. I have not tested the iOS app on a live game yet, which may proof to be different.

Netflix, ....box, apps, although the home screen is like a square box but I'm sure I just have to change some settings to adjust that.

I can only see the AJS icon in the middle of the screen and hear the sound, any ideas for getting it to display on my plasma, I've run it through my amp. And gone full screen mode!
Not sure what to do, any ideas?

Btw my ipad is Jailbroken!”

I use the Display Out app with my jailbroken ipod 4 and it works fine. It should still be available in Cydia.

AJS iOS app has an update available now.

What's New in Version 2.2.1

1. In-App Video Streaming Fix
2. Channel map image update / URL update

Yeap, they have fixed the constant "loading" message, but it looks as though they have broken AirPlay.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Am I correct in thinking that, while logged in to UK App Store, any updates to AJS app won't appear; I'll have to manually switch to Qatar App Store?

When you are in any app store, any non-regional-specific apps installed from another store will appear in your update list when they are updated.

However: Any region-specific apps from another app store will only appear when you are in that specific store. So year, you will have to go to the Qatar store to see this update appear. However, if you remain in that store, no UK specific apps will appear in your update list (i.e. BBC iPlayer) but any global apps from the UK store will (e.g. YouTube)

Yes - you have to log in via your Qatar itunes ID which will swich it automatically to the correct app store

(and then switch back to your default ID for the rest of your apps)

I thought that might be the case; thanks for clearing that up! In that case it would be very useful if any AJS app updates could please be mentioned on here as and when people notice them

Can anyone confirm if the new updated has broken airplay?

Also interested in that. If it has broken Airplay, I'm quite happy to have the loading bug and remain on this version!
