I'm only in a small flat on my own. Got a 30Mb+ connection to myself. I'm leaving for work in 5 minutes but can try hard wired tomorrow. Never had a problem going wi-fi other than today. I know that must sound crazy but it's perfect for me at all times because I'm the only person who uses it!

It'd be interesting, if you see the problem again, to specify those two DNS servers individually. You'll get handed a different content server depending upon which you use, and one may suit you more than the other. Just make sure you close your internet browser session / iPad app once you've switched between them.

Yes, i'm sure it works well - its just good to reduce the variables at play whilst diagnosing... and your flatmate using the microwave above you is usually out of your control!

OK , to follwo on my hunt for a device to watch AJS / PLP .
i have looked the way to the ANDROID BOX , FLASH SUPPORTED Of course.
not dongle but boxes.

Came across MINIX NEO
They have a X5 and X7 but function quite the same
then cane across this video :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2H4Mvx1WGk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCOi8QE1L_Y
shows a X5 connecting to a PLP stream and fully smooth on a full screen.

i might just get one of these.

any suggestions ?

Your milage is very likely to vary! The problem would actually appear to be with Akamai rather than Overplay or Al Jazeera, but changing the Overplay server you use has the effect of switching you over to a different Akamai server... which may be less loaded!

Watched the Saints game this afternoon on PLP using the iPad mini and Airplay to the Apple TV3. Apart from the result of the match, I didn't have any any issues with the quality or performance. Well ok, you can always look for better quality but it was smooth and really very good at times.

I don't know if it helps that the target audience are mostly asleep when the matches kick off but the picture didn't falter at all.

It would be the icing on the cake if they had an Apple TV app and 4500bps streams but it is very watchable as it is with this combination. I've got access to an Android TV device so I might set that up later to see how that compares to the Apple TV on the same content. I was very surprised recently how much difference there was between the quality of Netflix on the Apple TV, PC and Android TV. The Apple TV output was much better.

Interesting posts from you, so thanks for that.

I take my fibre from Sky and if I remember correctly, they block the router from having its DNS settings changed? Can anybody confirm this? If so, would plugging in an ethernet cable give me a geoblock message?

Does the season pass for plp reduce each month too?

I haven't seen any mention of it but I think it would have to reduce over time. They're not the most organised bunch but you could send them an email. I just tried their live chat but I think it is closed for the weekend.

You can add the DNS setting on the device / PC, in the network settings.

Cool thanks, might switch to them. AJS can't handle the load it seems and stutters a lot for me. My laptop is decent specd but I guess I need a really high specd machine to play flash smoothly.

I would say don't lose hope yet, and give AJS til the end of September to get their trousers on

All overplay DNS is make you appear to come from Egypt it has no effect on the actual streams.

If its freezing then the problem is somewhere between your ISP and what Akmai is sending you.

Also the DNS addresses overplay give out are used by everyone in the ipv4 settings but theyre wont be just 2 servers for everyone these will simply just be load balancer ips and this will balance out all the very small size DNS traffic.

My months sub ends on sept 16 don't really want to pay another months and would rather get the season pass instead only if its good though but so far the smoothness of the streams have been putting me off.

Not sure what other device or web browser I can try only the ipad plays smoothly with a lower quality and no option to change audio. I tried on my ps3 and it froze the system but don't think flash player works on that anyway.

What do you guys mean by smoothness?

I.e. the ball not moving smoothly

Like the stream gets stuck for 1/8 second then continues ... Every few seconds. It's hard to explain. Basically like the machine is struggling to play the stream.

Yes, exactly that. When I was playing to my TV via my laptop over hdmi, it felt like there was a bit of a scaling issue and you could notice a very slight jerkiness to the motion. However, if I play it on the TV using the iPad and Airplay, it is fine.

I interpret it as a low frame rate or stuttering of the picture.

btw i dont see if it handles flash.

vizio co-star
hisense pulse

I checked the stream on the FaviSmart Stick, and it did "play", but at a few costs.

* It took over 10minutes to type in my account name and password - this is due to horrific UI.
* It took about 10minutes to begin playing the stream. I don't believe this was due to problems at AJS's end as it worked fine on other platforms, but an issue with the smart stick.
* So, after 20minutes, the game began playing but it was only at a poor quality level and chopped all the time. It was unwatchable.

This was via the browser. I could try installing the Android app, but I would have to figure out how to disable one of the other four devices, and I don't have time to research this. And, I will have to regrow the hair I've pulled out.
