Personally I did a tracert and just put the one with the least hops first (I'm in Sweden).

have these both from OVERPLAY as DNS Serevers

81.218...
196.46...

streams speed are 200-300KB/s . Outgoing

seems there some Incoming date , should that be ? dont have any P2P open”

Where in the world are you from Sean? You seem to be using the Israeli and Egyptian DNS servers, which will definitely be suboptimal if you're not from the middle east. What does https://www.overplay.net/myaccount.php?t=smartdns tell you to use?

Can't answer that directly myself I'm afraid; I have both entered in my DNS settings.

Maybe someone geekier than me can explain how it works if there is more than one DNS address listed in your settings - under what circumstances one is chosen over the other, for example...?

I also suffer from stuttering playback on AJS most of the time but interestingly when I have just booted the laptop up in safe mode (after reading it somewhere else) the playback was a lot smoother. The stuttering was barely noticeable. I have an i7 chip and a 60mb wired connection running Firefox thru Overplay.

I just wish I can determine which program is causing the problem!

A handy free and safe app to change your startup programs is CCleaner, get it from piriform website.
You can change what comes on and startup and keep fiddling until you find the culprit (in my experience always best just to only enable what you really need on startup, speeds a lof of things up a lot)

Again try lots of browsers, safari, kylo, firefox, waterfox, chrome, opera
disable addons you dont need
there really isnt reason why people on okay machines should have stuttering

Well I installed CCleaner as recommended, used it to clean up my laptop and now AJS on Chrome (hardware acc off) is superb. It's very very close to like watching the TV. I don't know exactly what has sorted it but maybe CCleaner did the trick.

Thanks for the tip

Going back to an old post, I couldn't get the above to work. Saved as a .html from Text Editor with my Username and PW inserted, on my mac. Doubled clicked on the .html file on my desktop, but it just opened up a tab with all the text written on a grey background. Any tips?

I'm sorry i'm not too good on my HTML maybe put this line at the top
<!DOCTYPE html>
try opening it with a different browser, it worked for me on chrome on windows?
could be a mac thing possibly?
make sure you saved it as html and not just renamed it .html

Could be two things:
- File is named .html.txt and so being interpreted incorrectly as plain text.
- The content of the HTML page is that text. Ensure the file is plain-text - in Text Edit press command-shift-T to convert it.

Still got slight stuttering after using CCleaner. Better with hardware acceleration on though but still not smooth enough.

Specs on this laptop:

i3 2.27ghz
4gb ram
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

CPU Usage = 47%, RAM = 50ish%

Run out of ideas.

It might be worth trying using 178.79.166.52 seankk - although logic would suggest that you should indeed be using the Israeli DNS server as you already are!

I know some people on here have been looking for neat solutions to watch AJS on their TV (I'm waiting for Google's Chromecast myself); I wondered if this might be of use:

(There is a UK distributor.)

Just a word of warning re ChromeCast. (And I've only heard this and not verified it myself - mainly as I don't have a ChromeCast). The DNS settings on the ChromeCast are hardcoded to the Google servers and can not be changed. Not an issue if you are casting from a browser, but if the AJS Android app becomes ChromeCast enabled - it could be an issue.

I don't know I'm afraid. I just assumed it would as it runs a version of Android...

Yes, I had heard that as well. I am hoping that the browser casting feature will be sufficient though. Either way it seems to be a well-priced gadget that could be pretty useful.

Switched on for the tennis, still losing quality on HD quite often despite hooking up my ethernet cable, looks fab when it's HD but can go all "youtube" every couple of minutes.

I don't think sky have anything to worry about the reliability of this service is poor to say the least and there support is even worse iam beginning to think its pointless even contacting them as they just reply with standard replies that don`t even answer your question. This service might be relatively cheap but its not worth a bean if continues to be un-reliable especially at peak times
