You need to manually change your DNS settings in windows to match what overplay tell you.

Sorry for mentioning a certain app! Is there a way to edit a post on the forum? My mistake.
Cheers

I tried a site that offers live sports news streaming which isn't great quality, but my Samsung smart tv just froze, couldn't even turn it off with the remote let alone exit the samsung smart hub, I had to disconnect the power cable, pooped myself, lol so not sure it would work, just a heads up incase someone else has a go.

That would be a great solution but....

Which Android set top box is powerful enough to play AJS in a browser smoothly?

Which Android set top box has a compatible AJS app and the means to get the picture onto a TV?

Another phone question, how do you get AJS from the app store on an Android phone? I have created a new google email and put the location as Egypt but the app is not showing up

Use smart DNS

open a chrome browser and search for Egypt play store.

Sign in under you new Egyptian email account

You should then at least see the app.

Yep, that would work. I'd wait for the updated app to come out first though. Better to go with a choice, once you know exactly what works and how it works. You could also get one of those Android TV USB sticks... They look pretty cool.

I've taken the plunge and ordered the G-Box Midnight MX2, I will report back with my findings. The apk should install fine, the browser should load up properly, but as you say its the video smoothness that's important.

If I change the router settings to Egypt it will surely effect bbciplayer and Netflix right?
I need Netflix for my little one, i cancelled all my tv packages and just have that, along with 3 hard drives and WD media players I've not missed it.

I have an ASRock 330 HTPC which has been hardly used, think its still got the wrapping paper on it, lol would anyone be able to recommend a nice wireless keyboard that's media friendly and has a trackpad on it so no need for separate mouse?
would be handy if it worked with a Samsung smart tv

^^ If you are talking about SmartDNS with Overplay, then no. It will not affect any other service.

The Smart DNS service will only deal with the handshakes between your player and the supplier, and only the parts which deal with geographic restrictions.

This differs from a VPN where you have to actually tunnel into a specific country.

With SmartDNS in your router, you can have one TV watching Netflix from the US, another laptop watching ABC iView from Australia, a desktop playing a TV show from TVNZ in New Zealand, and your iPad or computer playing AJ Sports from Egypt - all at the same time (bandwidth permitting of course)

In fact, you can do all that on the same computer in different browsers or tabs.

I had this, http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-920-0.../dp/B0011FOOI2

It does what it needs to, but "feels cheap" with all the plastics.

You'll be lucky if that can handle HD flash. I doubt it will.

^^I have never tested this, but I imagine not. The SmartDNS service will only affect services that are configured for it, such as television channels like the BBC, ABC, NBC, Hulu, Netflix, AJ Sports etc.

Hi, thanks for the reply!
Really I just assumed it would send Netflix iplayer through Egypt, obviously not iplayer as It would not work.
I've changed the DNS on the Samsung smart tv for Netflix but it now won't update the apps although iplayer 4od work fine.

Could you tell me or post a link to show me how I put SmartDNS settings into the router please?

Are there any disadvantages to putting the settings into the router?
Btw I'm with virgin media, anyone had any problems doing it with Virgin?

With regards to the ASRock you may be right, I bought it on a whim but never really used it as my WD live player is hooked up to my Amp
It played 1080 content with eas though but not sure that's relevant. I can only hook it up to the bedroom tele and see once I'm set up.

I have a Dell studio laptop that usually plays streams fine via the old sop cast or other apps from another site but not sure about HD streams via AJS, I'll sign up for the month and see how it goes.
Thanks again guys, info is much appreciated.

Btw my bob speed is 60 mb will that be ok hard wired in? Obviously not the ipad.

I'll need more detailed explanation of this problem as I don't really understand what you mean. I have tested this quite a bit, and it works great for me. I'm in Germany, but I have access to all the UK apps as well as Netflix via the Smart DNS.

Have you gone back to Overplay's website and linked your IP address with your Overplay account? It's done via the SmartDNS tab. This is vital or it won't work.

Difficult to give exact details as every router is different. Essentially you will need to hunt for your router manual and find out how to log into it (it will also require a password that was either given to you, or in the manual).

Then, you will need to look for the Internet settings, which you should find a spot where it has the DNS addresses. This field will either be left blank, or have some numbers in it. Just replace those numbers with the ones Overplay gives you.

Make sure though that you right down anything you change in case you want to go back!

The advantages are that all devices in your home are unblocked to all the services Overplay's Smart DNS use. This means you don't have to manually set it up in each device. Don't forget, this will give you loads of different services as well. For a continuing growing list, check my website www.eyeondemand.com

All my reviews are for services that work with Overplay's Smart DNS, so you will instantly see you can have access to RTE in Ireland, ABC and SBS in Australia etc. There are lots more I haven't got around to yet like all the American ones (CBS, NBC etc) but I will eventually.

The catch, well, none really. Some people suggest that you would want to be with a reputable company, since all traffic is technically routed through their DNS servers. But I trust Overplay myself and have had my router configured with the DNS servers.

I was looking at the MX2. It seems to need some setting up. There is supposed to be a fair bit of advice knocking about.

I'd be very interested to hear how you get on. Good luck.

This one seems to get pretty good reviews.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rii-2-4GHz-W...ry+pi+keyboard

I was thinking about getting one to use with a Raspberry Pii but may just use it with a laptop plugged into the TV instead.

Its about the size of a Sky TV remote and includes a touchpad. I'm not too bothered about the ergonomics as it'll only be used to type the web address in or click a bookmark.

Does anyone have any idea how to use a dynamic DNS service with a Sky router (Sagem F@ST2504n I think!)?

You can enter the details but it will only let you use a DynDNS service - I've signed up for a one from No-IP as it is free but the Sky router won't allow you to enter the details.

Has anyone tried the service with a Blackberry Playbook? I know that the device handles flash well, but I'm not sure if it can handle the HD feeds. If it can, it seems ideal, as it can be hooked up to the TV using HDMI.
