No i assumed you where in the UK if your in the USA that`s something completely different and you will not need to change your time zone at all.
Seriously? Is that the solution, cheers, I'll give it a try.

So are people on the West Coast unable to watch without changing their clock too?

re NBC Sport Extra

If you mean the "overspill" channels then I have found that even though I can log in with Smart DNS (using my DIRECTV account log in details) I cannot actually watch any of the matches using this method.

However I also have a "private tunnel" subscription that I bought years ago (something like 20 dollars for 500 gig ) - I have 400 gig left of this to use - If I log in with private tunnel then I can watch the matches on the overspill channels just fine.

Haven't had to change my clock on any of my pc's, devices.

Just for the record this is not "ILLEGAL" - I have a proper DIRECTV subscription in the states that allows me to view the box remotely (like SKY GO)

And all those members who have just joined who feel they are being persecuted because nobody will help them with AJS - spare a thought for me - been here over 10 years and nobody will help me either ! I bought a 12 month sub back I n August.

Nobody needs to monitor any threads though, if there is an influx of logins (previously geoblocked) from a new server... It will stand out like a sore thumb!!!
That's not quite how this system works, not everyone is coming from the 'same server' it's quite a bit more complicated than that and harder to spot patterns

Quite frankly seeing as this is THE most viewed and visibly active (by google search) forum discussing this on the internet and seeing as everytime a new way round is discussed and named or said to be working and then taken down within 6 hours, i feel that the paranoia is justified

I dont think they would have people joining forums and posting and sending pms asking for tips, but to be honest it's someones jobs to make sure the terms of service are kept and all they have to do is google al jazeera sports outside uk or something like that and this forum will be the top result

So if I use a service that has one server in Egypt, then another 50 people start using it overnight, you're saying that wouldn't be spotted? That there wouldn't be an influx from that server?

Connections probably wont come from the same IP, but from the same IP range yes, I guess. Though SmartDNS doesn't mask your ip, so they are well aware of the fact that you are not located in MENA area. And trust me, this is confirmed.

So I was right then. If we harp on about services that work on here, there will be an immediate spike on IP ranges from logins previously geo blocked. It's blatantly obvious for AJS!! That's why people are keeping quiet on here.

I forgot the sentence: they don't care if you can get around the geoblock.

I'm sure they (AJS) don't. The FA do though. And sky/bt.

I don't know why people think BT/Sky have any power over this? The contract English companies hold with the FA is completely different to Al Jazeera's, they can't even govern this. It's like McDonald's trying to stop Burger King giving away free ketchup, it's none of their business. If you started stealing SkyGo or BTSport, they'd be bothered i'm sure. People need to wise up.

How does smartdns work then? I thought it removed the ip information from the packet and replaced it with a localised one?

if people are using a cheap foreign feed and so don't subscribe to Sky or BT who have exclusive rights to some games in the UK then obviously they'd be bothered.

Yes, but when you play the stream, you are directly connected to it, therefore your own ip is visible. Im not 100% sure of this, but that is how I would understand it.

But it isn't illegal, so they have no grounds to lean on Al Jaz.

Id think through what you've just said there. How much income do sky generate from pubs? If it's easy and legal to stream all 380 games for 80 quid a year you don't think sky are bothered?? I think they're very bothered

Its all protecting there income and its against ajs terms and conditions to allow people to watch there coverage anywhere apart from the Mena region
But it isn't illegal, so they have no grounds to lean on Al Jaz.

I don't think Sky are leaning on AJS.

I think Sky will say to the PL - "hey we are paying all this money, do something about it", and the PL will then lean on AJS.

Pretty much this.

Sky and BT have no influence at all and are not able to just step in and demand steps be taken.

The PL will be taking steps to ensure they keep Sky and BT on side for the next auction to keep the money reaching new highs is all. Other than that, it's got nothing at all to do with the domestic broadcasters.

I think its quite naive to think that sky and bt aren't kicking up a stink to the league over this.

It's not naive at all. The only people running the show are the PL who in turn have to act due to FA restrictions. Think what you want but that's the way it is. Sky can be as annoyed as they want but they have no basis to twist the arm of Richard Scudamore and co. Contrary to popular belief, they don't all sit and have luxury lunches together... Being the heavily regulated process that it is, it's purely business reasoning that the PL are acting in a manner that will protect their own property for increased future revenue.
