Wow... Really?
If that's the case, I think they can expect a mass exodus.

I wonder if the PL are attempting to take legal steps to stop them doing so. Even if the PL haven't got a leg to stand on, the threat of years of expensive legal proceedings might be enough to scare them off?

Overplay aren't doing anything illegal though! I don't know why people are still trying to use overplay it just seems way too hit and miss

Ofcourse they aren't doing anything illegal but most of these DNS providers are tiny operations with not many people working for them... If the PL threatened legal action against them, that is a serious threat to their business, based on potential legal fees alone.

Overplay worked fine for me today, by the way.

But if there not doing anything illegal they have nothing to worry about the premier league can threaten what they like all its going to do is give these companies publicity and potentially more business

Just had this from overplay

Your Question: Hello
When I click on my Al Jazeera to stream a channel it plays ok then if I close it and try and play it again nothing happens
Thankyou
Please wait, an operator will be with you shortly.
You are now chatting with Eric Miller (Support) - General
20:27Eric Miller: Hello. Welcome to OverPlay.
20:28Eric Miller: Just to inform you that Due to actions by Al Jazeera, the service is no longer supported and unfortunately that's likely to remain the case for the foreseeable future.

Is anyone getting the error "Fairusebreach"? It's a pain to watch the streams for me by now, always getting it, changing channel or refreshing doesn't work anymore

I know what you're saying man but, by potentially entering to a long and protracted legal despute, costing a lot of money, it could put a huge strain on their resources. This could potentially put them in financial difficulty…

I'm speculating of course, but this could be the motivation for them, to some customers, but stay in business.

I can't see any other reason for them to stop supporting AJS.

maybe that they are not willing to involve themselves in the cat and mouse game any more. the premier league will not be perusing legal action as overplay are not breaching any rules, the only rules being broken are by the end user for terms of use on the al jazeera side.

They cant sell a service that every week is taken down, it will result in too many complaints hence the removal of al jazeera sport.

I wonder how you buy/rent a piece of a server in Egypt so you can run your own bespoke smartDNS for just a few selected and trusted friends

yeah, that's exactly what I'm looking for now. But I havent figured out how technically smartdns works yet, however a vpn will be an easy solution.

I suspect the message from overplay is designed to deter ajs from blocking services. Though it isn't perfect, the stream seems to be working ok.

If the message is to deter ajs why would you post it on the internet that service is now working and let the cat out of the bag lets see if it gets geoblocked now

Sorry. But let's see what happens. As many others have pointed out before, this is probably not the main source of information for the EPL and AJS. What's the point of this thread if we don't share information, interpretation and tips like, for example, about rewinding?

Yes because multi million doller business Al Jazeera Sport are sat around waiting for somebody to post on a forum that its working, if its posted here its common knowledge the Internet is a big place. If it gets blocked now its because they are trying to abide to their contract with the EPL not because of a forum post

I've had it a few times; not figured out what the magic solution is yet but some combination of refreshing, changing channels, logging out/in, and restarting browser/app has done the trick so far.
