Dell.com - import tax?

I am looking at buying the new xps 12 from dell.com. I think I am ordering from the usa store, not too sure on this. If I go through quidco,

Dell store
256gb model only

and small/medium business
128gb or 512gb options

The 512gb version is only £20 moe than the 256gb, plus quidco has a 10% of code and 9% cashabck for small business. It does state vat in the ordering invoice.

So I am wondering if I am ordering fom the usa and will there be import tax, obviously I dnt want a £200 tax bill

I took the plunge last night and ordered one. Cash back has track just now at 4%, it said yesterday 9% but I have just checked and it has changed to up to 12%

So currently have the 512gb model down from £1290 to £1127 The fact that I paid 20% vat on my order, plus it comes with a uk power supply and uk keyboard will hopefully mean that it is coming from the uk. Don't get why both sites have different models and I have only ever seen the usa have the 512gb model mentioned.

They come from Ireland I think (or at least they used to). No import duty within the EU, so you should be fine.

It'll probably be fulfilled from somewhere in the EU (aint dell moved to Poland?)

Dell stopped production in Ireland a year or so ago. Now everything is sent from Poland or China.

I got one from their refurb store for £600. Touchscreen didn't work so I called them and engineer came and fixed it the very next day.

It's a great machine and its changed me into really loving the metro side of windows 8. Do spend time updating drivers for the trackpad and fiddling with its settings as its not great out of the box.

Cool, I will find out very shortly, on stage 4/5, only one left is shipped I have ordered the new haswell i7, so hopefully they have upgraded the track pad. Do you really use the track pad that much when you have touch screen?

I have windows 8 on my pc and I spend all my time in desktop mode. The first thing I do is click on the desktop tile on the metro screen. Hopefully that will change though

The best thing to do with Windows 8 is to install a start button replacement (http://www.classicshell.net/ is good but there are others available) and then you never see the Metro/Modern UI ever again.

My order is on its way from china. I hope that since I paid £194 vat, that there wont be anymore tax on top.

I actually don't mind windows 8 metro, I just don't use any of there apps yet. I will probably try out some of the touch screen games etc.

You won't have to pay anything. Any import taxes are included in the price.

Now that I have the Dell, I much prefer using Metro where possible to the desktop, everything is just quicker and easier with a few swishes of the fingertip. The biggest app most people use these days is a web browser and I quite like IE Metro for browsing with touch.

Just got an email, should be delivered tomorrow so no tax. So ordered on the 11th, despatched on the 14th and arriving on the 20th, not bad. My tracker is still stating that it has been despatched from man u factoring but eta is also stating 20th.

Looks like I will need to step up my hunt for a usb dongle and sim card combo, so I can use it at work. And pick up a case as well.

Probably the first thing I will do is set up steam and benchmark the haswell chip to see what level of gaming I can expect. Not to bothered as long as I can get 720p, with everything switched off, running at a decent frame rate.
