Looks like from now on TalkTalk customers wouldn't have to go into the Player for the streamed channels (the Boost packages) as it will now come into the EPG with traditional TV numbers like Sky and Virgin.

---

And BT YouView now has the 21 extra channels on the EPG. This should also mean that BT now only have to port Sky Sports to YouView and enable recording of these streamed channels on YouView for the BT Vision service to finally close down.

---

Anyone who has TalkTalk TV or BT TV (YouView, not Vision), could you please write the EPG channel numbers of the new ones? I believe they are in the 400-499 range, right?

Given the 'speed' with which TT roll out any updates, it'll be at least another 6 months before we see these extra channels.
I mean, who needs BT Sport et al when you've got "Peppa Pig" and all the latest Bollywood 'blockbusters' ?

I can confirm that Talk Talk Player channels are now intergrated into the Youview EPG. Channel numbers ranging from 401 Sky1 through to Cartoon Network on 561. The majority of channels seem to be there apart from some of the recently added World Boost channels (Arabic, Japanese and South African).

Using the service this afternoon, it seems to be working ok. Moving from Freeview to Talk Talk channels only causes a minimal pause and reminders are now available across both services.

It's been a nightmare over recent months with the TalkTalk player service due to freezing channels, even with fibre, with no indication from any customer service advisor of the cause or solution.

Since Friday, this has resolved itself and become a more stable service. A lot of work must have been going on in the background, but as a customer, I was left in the dark throughout the whole process....even to the point of being advised to leave Talk Talk, by a TalkTalk customer advisor as they had done all they could!!

Look forward to more channels arriving in the near future!

It hasn't appeared on my epg, so I mustn't be included in the trial - at least not yet.

Entigy, a lot of those streamed channels have been available in the TalkTalk Player since launch last autumn. This update, when it comes, will move them into the main epg and, hopefully, add some more. Not sure what will happen to the TalkTalk Player then, though. Maybe it will be reserved for on-demand stuff.

Have you done a rescan?

Since the last update, if you do a retune it'll tell you how many broadcast channels you have and how many internet.. Probably worth a try.

Same with me. I did a rescan and still no internet channels. Obviously, there haven't come to where I live as yet.

Snap. I cancelled my Entertainment Boost about a month ago because I was rarely watching any of the channels on it. That, I assume, is why. I might take it up again to see if that triggers it.

That's why I'm not too bothered at the moment. I'll end up paying for a load of channels I never watch. My internet isn't fast enough anyway. I've been told I need at least 5mbs and my internet is only running at an average of 3.45 mbs. If fibre became available where I live I would consider it, but otherwise I'll leave it for now. There's more than enough choice on Freeview!

For those that do have the channels on the EPG, what's the line-up looking like channel number wise?

As an update, as of 11.10am this morning, all streamed channels have now been removed from the Youview EPG and are exclusively available in the TalkTalk Player. I had the facility for 48 hours on Sunday and Monday.

I was just getting used to the easier functionality of channel numbers for all services.

I suspect it will be back soon for a full launch with the possible long-awaited recording functionality.

Here's hoping....

I have just received an email from TalkTalk telling me that the full change will roll out in September, but that it will happen for the chosen few (which, apparently, includes me) within the next 7 - 10 days. That being the case, I thought I had better re-subscribe to some Sky channels so I could have a look. Accordingly, I have taken out the Starter Boost, which adds Sky 1 and 2, Living, Livingit, Sky Arts 1 and 2 and Sky Sports News for an additional fiver a month. They are still in the TalkTalk Player as I type this, but the picture quality seems to be very good. The email quotes a minimum broadband speed of 5Mbps (I am sure it used to be 4), which suggests to me that they may have upped the bitrate and possibly other stuff as well. Not a problem for me because my broadband speed is at least double that.
Previously, when I had the Entertainment Boost, the quality was still pretty good, but the picture pixelated occasionally. I haven't watched a full programme yet, so I don't know whether this has been ironed out now. I will report back.

Just checked *********** and it looks like there's now a TalkTalk Plus TV channel list, but which is incomplete. Anyone here that has TalkTalk with the new EPG numbers, it would be great if you can contribute to that wiki and add the EPG numbers of the channels.

That list is in progress and is in the process of being finished. If people contribute that'd be great

*********** is also getting a new top level domain soon (***********.org). The old URLs will still work though (redirect)

Youview are managing the EPG numbers for IPTV - so where TalkTalk and BT have the same channels, they should be on the same numbers.

See Section 5: https://industry.youview.com/resourc...07.08.2013.pdf

Interesting... just looked at it and yes YouView is indeed responsible for the LCNs (EPG channel numbers) of the IP streamed channels. So BT and TalkTalk will have the same. But the thing is BT has about 21 IP channels whereas TalkTalk Plus TV has over 70.

Just got the update now. Looks good. Streamed channels are accessed almost as quickly as broadcast ones and picture quality seems comparable.

I have been able to watch a few programmes now and I am impressed. The picture quality (SD) is very good, as is the sound. I haven't noticed any pixelation or buffering. Now that these channels are incorporated in the main epg, they no longer feel tacked on. When they were in the TalkTalk Player it would take something like fifteen seconds for a programme to start after being selected. Now it is more like two.

Next up, I suppose we need some more HD. There is already some HD on demand stuff, like Love Film Box Office and Digital Theatre. I assume TalkTalk are in negotiation with Sky over their full HD pack (at least I hope they are). The fact that nearly half a million people now have YouView suggests to me that Sky has lost the chance of those people as direct subscribers, but surely it would be in their interests to have the chance of them indirectly.

I'd like to know why HD carriage deals for the linear channels weren't signed by either TalkTalk or BT in the first place. Would have been a very nice touch indeed to have everything with a HD option instead of SD or nothing.

There again, Virgin haven't got it either, have they? Wishful thinking on my part perhaps.

The update that will make the streamed channels recordable is due sometime in the next few months.
