If it were me I wouldn't touch it, have a read through the following link at the review and the comments. http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/digital...gem-dtr94320s/
If you would like my advise I'd say put a little extra on top and get the Humax HDR 1000s <free time> box which is now under £200 at Satbuyer http://www.satbuyer.co.uk/humax-hdr-...-box-p190.html |

I have a Sagemcom Freesat+HD box. It works OK. There has just been an intensive over-air upgrade that seems to have resolved several problems. It does "freeze" from to time (i.e won't operate via the remote, will stay on the channel you're watching and occasionally the Graphic that indicates the channel you are switching to, won't appear). It is not reliable enough to record your programmes if you are away though. Think hard about what you buy. A Ross Free to air satellite receiver is more reliable but far more basic. You will need a memory card to record on a Ross though. (You can get a Ross receiver for around £60.00).

i was having a look at the Ross boxes in B&Q, this one I found on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171092569262 how do these compare to freesat though? I assume that there is no EPG, I will not get the channels in any paticular order (so BBC1 could end up channel 75 or something) and I may not get all the freesat stations? I also assume that I will get all the Sky channels come up encrypted as a littered EPG is something I wanted to get away from when Sky cancels down next month |

I have had a Sagemcom DTR94500 for a couple of years now - initially had a few problems which were software related, but now the unit has the present ota software version 1.6.3 & I have had NO problems.
The unit was bought for use in Spain where it was very good at holding borderline satellite signals (had to use a 2.4Metre dish(!)), but now I'm back in the UK & it still works fine... I have a Sony Bravia TV for Freeview, Sagem for Freesat recording & an old Sky box to see what sports are on (not to see - I go online with my laptop.... |

I have recently bought the dtr 94-500 box for £150 from currys & it's a bit un- responsive but my main gripe is with the fav list you only get to put 20 channels in each list of a Max of 4 & having to press the info button twice then the blue button to switch between each list is a bloody nuance. Also having to input your paternal code for hiding channels takes ages.
I could go on forever listing things that are slightly annoying but for the money there asking for other boxes I still think I've done the right thing for the moment. |
