Does anyone know anything about these boxes & if it's a good idea to get one . . . ?

They seem to vary in price on e-bay, from around £300 to £1200, not sure why . . . .

There seems to be lots o channels, all free (?)

Thanks in advance . . .

Basically, you run XBMC on them, like you would on a PC. Then you can run add ons for video, programs etc.

The channels you mention could be heading towards an illegal side of things though, so I dont think you can discuss them here.

They cost so much because the latest Apple TV firmware cant be jailbroken at present ( I think ) so these are older models which are getting few and far between.

Thanks for that . . .

Do you still need an apple tv box to run XMBC on a mac then or is it completely different when viewing on a tv . . .

No, you should be able to install it on MAC OS X easily enough, which will run the same as on Apple TV. If you can plug the MAC into your TV it would do the same job.
