I am using my PC to watch Netflix but I cannot get some stuff to fill the screen. When I watch say American Dad it's 4:3 and black to the left and right. Is there anyway I can it full screen?

Not that I'm aware of.
Why would you want to? You'd be either stretching and distorting the picture, or cutting off a good chunk of the top and bottom.

You are seeing the picture in the correct aspect ratio. There is nothing to be gained by filling out the entire screen unless you are a fan of stretchy vision or zooming into the middle of the image just so there are no black portions of the screen.

I guess I am not used to it as if I watch American Dad on Netflix using my Smart TV or the Xbox 360 it fills the screen.

But that is because American Dad is drawn in a 16:9 ratio and you are watching as it was designed.

If it's an older episode of American Dad the TV is probably set up incorrectly.

So am I correct in saying that 4:3 is the way I am suppose to be watching it?

I can find this annoying, because I watch netflix on my tv via my computer, so the screen is quite small on my tv when it's in 4.3

Why annoying? I just cannot understand this mentality.

Watching anything in other than the original aspect ratio is an abomination!
