I have never had one but if you look at the kennel club site you should be able to find out what health tests you need. Also have a look for a site called dogsey loads of helpful information there.

Emberez Dogue de Bordeaux I believe also breed frenchies, they breed some of the best dogues in the country so would be worth contacting them to ask some questions

Hi, we had a beautiful French bulldog bitch who was healthy but died eating a small bit of chicken breast. She was only 2
Got lodged in her larynx she died within a minute still devastated. They're a wonderful breed but do have health issues. Most don't like long walks but never walk for too long when it is warm. Some have eye issues so having a pup that is HC clear is preferable. We had insurance but it crept up to £25 per month so we cancelled. Most treatments were below £50 so we felt that insurance was not worthwhile. All the best with choosing your pup. Flatulence and snoring is in big supply but you do get used to it

You MUST get pet insurance, especially if you insist on getting any type of pedigree that has common health issues. A simple blood test for a dog can cost over £100 - what would you do if there were anything more serious to pay for? X-rays? Monthly medication? How can you complain at £25 a month for insurance for a dog that can cost upwards of £1k to purchase in the first place?

We have had our hound since March, so have paid about 4 months of insurance @ £35 per month. The op and following consultations came in at about £830, having the pet insurance has saved us almost £700 - it really is a no brainer. |

So can happen with any breed.
