Crystal Palace are expected to make an ambitious loan move for Aston Villa outcast Darren Bent after interest from Newcastle and Fulham died down.
Manager Ian Holloway is looking to bolster his forward line further after signing Marouane Chamakh from Arsenal, the club's seventh signing of the summer.
Palace would pay Bent, thought to be earning £65,000-a-week at Villa, his full wages with the view of a permanent deal if the Selhurst Park club avoid relegation.

He would be a great signing for a team that will need lots of goals to help secure their place in the league. I'm a bit surprised though, as a week ago I was convinced he was Fulham-bound.

Look, this is a big transfer saga that's being much talked about in the national media. If you're not interested then please refrain from posting in the topic.

No it isn't, you're talking about it more than all the national media put together.

Strange that you never mentioned this point in the Newcastle v Fulham thread.

Anyway, 6 or 7 threads on the footballing great that is Darren Bent now? Does this beat the Nigel Reo-Coker amount?

To be honest it's ridiculous how this guy is able to get away with spamming the football forum with these inane threads, and yet it seems the mods can't be bothered to do anything about it.

Not really doing anything wrong. Though really it makes more sense for the mods to merge it into a Darren Bent Thread

Why is it considered an "ambitious move" ?.. Who else wants him anyway.

With a combined tally of 3 league goals last season, Bent and Chamakh will make Crystal Palace a force to be reckoned with...

Darren Bent hardly started many games last season, did he?

Well no, neither of them did to be fair. But there was a reason for that... Maybe if Bent goes to a club that really needs him he'll get back some of that past form.

I'm sorry but I'm gonna stand up for myself here and not be bullied into silence. This is a football forum and I'm reporting a relevant topic that if it's important enough to be in the Daily Mail then I figure it's worthy of a discussion on this forum. If you disagree then fine, just ignore the topic and let it slide away onto page 2.

What I will do is apologise for the 'Leeds/Liverpool Sign Bent' topics which in hindsight I admit I probably got a bit carried away with, but at the end of the day no one died just because I told a joke two or three times did they!?

Now please let's move on and if you're not interested in this transfer saga then ignore this topic. I happen to think it's a massive deal, but that's just my opinion. Thank you.

You are not being bullied what some FMs are quite rightly complaining about is the amount of threads started by you on Bent, its now getting beyond the pale & annoying.

So I'm going to go against the grain here but I actually find Oatstie's Darren Bent update threads amusing. It's not like he starts endless threads that are over running the forum, I had a look and I see two threads from him in in the first three pages, two threads out of 90, it's hardly a big deal.

If they really bother anybody that much then the logical course of action is to simply not click on them and certainly not keep them alive by posting in them. I see nothing wrong in Darren....I mean oatstie posting the odd thread to keep people updated if that is what tickles his fancy.

I must admit, the use of the description "transfer saga" and "massive deal" in connection with a story about Darren Bent possibly being loaned to Palace did make me smile.
