No, Vodafone are not using different sim cards for 3g phones (known as USIMS)

The sim card you are trying to use probably does not have 3g activated - you'll need to call Customer Service

Hope this helps

As far as I know, Vodafone PAYG and Contract settings are the same... however I would need someone to back me up on this?

No, prepay & contract settings on Voda ARE different.

For Prepay your APN is pp.vodafone.co.uk
while on contract it is wap.vodafone.co.uk

I've no experience with the settings on a 3G handset, these are the usual settings for 2G - they might work for you.

Ooh thanks for that... they say you learn something new every day

well i'll just copy the contract settings and change the APN alone to that pp.vodafone.co.uk but it should take a while for the USIM thingy to come on.
