I actually think I got you mixed up with someone else lol, sorry about that that will teach me to post after a drinking session when watching the footie

Anyway, all these new phones are starting to look the same because the screen is taking up the vast majority of the front of the device. LG have actually made some interesting design choices like buttons on the back which many reviewers actually like.

How would you define an interesting design?

I would define an interesting define purely by looking at the HTC One – to me that’s the best looking phone at the moment.

Also Nokia do a lot with simple, elegant designs.

I' prob not the norm, but I've got 24gb of music on my phone (then I have prob another 20gb of photos, then have videos, podcasts and films on top of that not to mention the OS and apps).

Also forgot to add that I've seen a good deal on this phone on O2 on the UK Hot deals sitefor £22/month but it did only come wits 500mb of data each month (which would be ok for some people like my wife).

I see this phone is available in 32gb but when none of the major networks or phone shop are selling it?
does anyone do the 32gb version?

Apparently 02 have the exclusivity for the 32gb version.

If true then i will opt for the 16gb as im going absolutely no where near 02 again!!

Anyway, i just looked on my 16gb Nexus 4 and i still have 9gb space free!! I use Google music to just stream my tunes.

As long as 32GB is the norm then a micro sd card slot is always needed.”

your forgetting cloud storage these days which does make quite a difference and making physical on device memory less relevant than it used to be

I've got 'only' got 16 gig on my nexus 4 which is plenty as it is so easy to swap files on and off an android phone as needed. I've got wifi or good unlimited hdspa data in 99% of the place I use the phone.

Cloud storage requires an internet connection. It's great as a backup but not for daily use.

Well I've got a working internet connection on my phone 90% of the time so it is daily usable for me

Flash memory can be read much quicker than any internet connection to download a file.

A lot of use cases for a mobile phone just don't need this expandable storage, which in my case is playing music ( which can be easily streamed, but even so I can store a fair amount locally ) small apps and so on and photos, which again don't take too long to stream or push onto the cloud.

As for storing movies and so on I don't bother because I find a 4 inch screen more or less useless for watching a movie or anything over 10 mins long.

I've never come close to running out of storage on my N4 and probably still have 6-7 gig free on the internal memory

but dont forget its not actually 16gb
its probs about 12gb as all the software takes GB away from the actual 16gb.
I would have gotten the phone if it was 32gb but 16gb is way to small today

Yep, but even so I've still got 6-7 gig free. I'm planning to get a nexus 5 and 32 will be more than adequate for me, possibly even 16.

Do you store your entire laptop hard drive in the cloud as well?

Seriously, cloud is useful, but not for everything and everyone.

The use case for a laptop is totally different though, but actually I have quite a few non confidential docs I keep in the cloud, simply so I can access them from any of my devices work PC, personal laptop even iPad and phone.

apart from the OS files, application and development projects and confidential stuff on my laptop which don't take up much too much room then there is good reason to keep a lot of files in cloud storage. Photos I tend to keep on 2 separate external drives and also cloud. Same goes for music, then I can access them from any device.

I do have a lot of movies/home videos on my external drives which take up many gigabytes but they are of no use for me on my mobile phone.

My previous phone had an 8gig sd card which I never needed to even take out the phone so as I say for me 16 or 32gig is perfectly adequate on a phone.

Howcome the UK are not doing 32gb handsets?

Its such a shame imo as this phone would have been mine if it came in 32gb. I have just looked on the 3 website and its only selling 16gb versions. What a let down imo. 16GB is way too small and tbh i prefer this phone to the HTC One. It's cheaper and has better battery life which i crave/

But you won't have a charger to hand everywhere. And streaming drains the battery a lot quicker. So to be honest I'd prefer to store my music on the phone.

On the 02 website it only says 16gb plus 02 network isn't that good and overpriced.
That means you can only get the G2 from 02 then

LG have missed a trick by not releasing the 32GB model as that's what everyone wants. Big mistake. Heck even the HTC One comes standard with 32GB and that doesn't have a microSD slot.

It's crazy none of the usual retailers have the 32GB in stock. It seems O2 have exclusivity over it on contract only.

You can buy the 32GB simfree here - http://www.mobicity.co.uk/lg-g2-32gb.html
