EastEnders To Pick Up Form In Autumn?
With returns of David Wicks and Ronnie Mitchell with a one episode appearance from Peggy, do you think EastEnders will pick up some form with the ratings?

No, not because of returnees. If the storylines do the characters justice then I'll say yes. Sometimes even the best of characters get stuck in a rut...and IMO Ronnie was never a great character to begin with.
Viewers will switch on once they decide a storyline sounds interesting. |

It has lost over three million so while some may return its unlikely to be challenging Corrie outside the festive season. But then again terrestrial ratings for all channels are heading one way and that's down, in five years time five million will be the norm for EE and Corrie.
Fans of Michael French did not flock to Casualty and I doubt they will flock to EE for his return, I'm happy to be proved wrong in the long term but EE as all soaps reached their natural peak in the eighties and nineties and its been downhill since then, I never believed EE would ever get anything less than 15 million in the late nineties and 13 yrs later its averaging 6 million. |

More variety on tv nowadays that people may even choose to record or use catchup services on soaps too. |

Returning characters only give a temporary spike, unless the quality returns to the writing it won't regain it's status

I think the returns of Ronnie,David and Peggy and the car crash will give the show some much needed buzz,I'm hoping for a big promo in the next week or so advertising all this! However I don't think we'll see EE totally get back to good form until DTC has taken over.

I feel like it's too little, too late. Years ago I would have been so upset if this show was taken off air but now, I wouldn't really care, but I know other people still like it and that's good. I just find it creatively completely uninspiring

I'm relatively excited about Ronnie returning but nothing else really interests me to be honest. With Phil's car crash it is the case of been there done that.

Made me laugh hahahahaha
People may tune in to Sam Womack's return, but unless it's well executed in writing they will not stay with the show. |
