Everyone is always negative but I think there is potential now.

Yes Lauren will still be prominent but others will get a look in to.

Carl and co seem decent and if it involves phil in an old style eastenders story that's good.

Sadie seems intriguing as well as who she is what's she going to do etc.

So whilst people moan there are too many young people they do seem to be stocking up on the 30s to 40s age group.

Carl, the brother, sadie, jake etc

Ronnie back as well

I don't think for a second it will get better before DTC takes over,
LN did not step up after the BSA, whats makes you think she will step up for viewers

Don't care for the show, the characters or it's fate any longer. It's a terrible shame to see what the BBC and an endless procession of naff producers and writers have allowed it to become. For me, it's as dead as all those poor characters who were mown down outside the Vic were.

They killed off all of the wrong characters and have essentially killed the show with them. The whole saga is on a loop and they have taken the repetition of 'storylines' to the stratosphere and inexplicably, continue to do so! Other soaps recycle now and then but it's the SAME story EVERY damn week in EastEnders or someone with a new head it's just ridiculous! Babies, cheating, babies, cheating etc - enough already!

There's no going back, anything now is far too little too late. They can introduce all the new characters they want, yet, it would be a good idea to actually use the ones they have and find someone who understands them well enough to write a decent bloody script!

Barbara Windsor tore up her return script - says it all really and I have the utmost admiration for her in doing so! I hope she encouraged other cast members to follow suit!

Nop, if it was a dog it would be put down. It should be moved to a non prime time slot or stuck on BBC2 to give the 65 million people who don't watch it a better alternative to justify our tv licence fee!

Love triangles, the over exposure of the Brannings have seriously dragged EE down.

DTC has his work cut out.

EE needs to go back to basics.

I would suggest they replace it with Eldorado mark II, but Ben Frow the new head honcho at Channel 5 wants to revive it to compliment the aussie soaps! I would love for this happen - with a completely overhauled production team of course!

Give it a few more years... it's in such a mess now as it is, I doubt it has the staying power of Corrie or Emmerdale due to that fact. I think DTC is it's last hope before the inevitable happens..

If the new EP fails to deliever, I can see a 30th birthday episode then it axed a few months later. I can see it being shunted to BBC3 twice a week being home to half a million viewers.

Shades of Brooksides demise are similar with EE at the moment.

Will not get better until they get a smaller group of more experienced writers and get rid of the Brannings once and for all.

Every show is just a budget cut away from cancellation, I like Holby and even I will be surprised if that's still with us in 2020, nothing is certain in life apart from death and taxes.

That would not surprise me. On top of that they could afford to be adventorous. Wasnt Brookie back on form with its midnight showings?

I don't think it's going to last for decades to come but I also don't think it will be axed as quickly as everyone else seems to. If DTC fails to restore it to its former glory by the end of his tenure then his successor will be tasked with that goal. And their successor will be given the difficult task if they fail. The BBC won't give up without a fight. The problem is the BBC are the problem. They won't let EastEnders take any risks and they keep letting the wrong people write the scripts. They seem completely unwilling to admit the issue is backstage. On a personal note I feel the decline owes to whoever decided teens and Brannings were the order of the day. What an absolutely stupid decision it was to focus the show around those elements.
