Unmissable Emmerdale!
I have just viewed last night's second episode and I have to say it is one of the best in it's history.
Compelling, powerful and extremely moving. The whole cast were superb paticularly Lucy Pargeter and Charley Webb. The script was fantastic and the whole production was faultless. For me, Gennie's terrible death has to be one of the saddest and most shocking in a soap ever. Sian Reese Williams was so deserving of such an exlplosive exit and a much-loved character. Emmerdale is absolutely fantastic and at the top of it's game once more thanks to the appointment of the brilliant Kate Oates. Hats off to her and all of her team for finally allowing us a pay-off of this long-running storyline with an imminent and thrilling climax still yet to come. I sincerely hope that Emmerdale get's the praise and recognition it so rightly deserves at the next awards ceremonies, they all deserve it. The amateur dramatics performance over on BBC1 should take a lesson from the masterclass that is Emmerdale, slick production and sheer brilliance from all involved! |

Uhh, why does everyone always have to resort to 'my soap is better than yours' when praising a soap they like?
![]() I have been and was an avid fan of EastEnders from episode one, I wish I still was and to be able to say all of the above about it too, but unfortunately I can't. The stark comparisons are immense and it's glaringly obvious to any viewer that the show is in chaos. It's no secret either. It's completely unwatchable and lost it's spark years ago. The BBC have treated it with nothing but contempt and done nothing short of insulting life-long loyal viewers and fans. If DTC can regain it's former glory, fantastic! A major problem is the amount of unlikable characters, useless actors, appalling scripts and the ruination of perfectly good exisiting characters, good luck to him! |

![]() The quality of the show currently is so good at the moment that the fans are just a wee bit excited. So maybe cut them some slack and I promise never to slag off Eastenders.

Yeah, it's a bit boring, but in their defense, Emmerdale was so awful under Stuart Blackburn!

Emmerdale was awful under SB, yet, is currently a shining example of everything a soap should be.. credible long-running, momentum-building storylines for a start... I'm sorry but I fail to get excited about snakes on the loose and pot-rattling for charity, besides teen angst, babies, affairs, cheating.. |

It was brilliant tonight, I think it is because the characters are believable, that they could be your nieghbours...neightbours that you care about. I like eastenders too, but the show is going through a transition, it had some iconic people in it: Stacey, Den, Peggy, Grant, to name a few, and they have not been replaced with the same quality as of yet, though I think Lola, Abi, Jay have potential to be great actors, they have just been given too much too soon, like Lauren and Dexter. Tamwar and Fatboy should get a two hander, in order for the viewers and writers to invest in the future, of course, I could be wrong. But Emmerdale is the best soap going right now.

I'm not 'slagging off' EastEnders, far from it as I pointed out in my post above, just stating the blindingly obvious like the many people on this forum and in several national publications.

I forgot to mention the wonderful Lesley Dunlop, how could I?! Her performances have been stunning throughout, she and Lucy Pargeter stole the show in the funeral episode. It was so moving I felt as though I was in attendance at a real funeral.
The aftermath of Gennie's death has been extremely hard-hitting and I'm now really looking forward to the major climax of the whole storyline. There are so many sub-plots and storylines bubbling away at the surface! Compared to the glacial pace under SB, the continuity and story progression is now perfect. The fact that barely any character in Emmerdale is void of a storyline is testament to the show's terriffic writers and cast. Autumn sounds like it's going to be a very bumpy ride indeed! Can't wait!

Wouldn't it be better if there was only one thread on this. It was brilliant but it doesn't look like it's getting the support it really has with three seperate short threads.
