Just my personal taste, but I haven't liked these transformations, mostly because they've gone less pop:
Spice Girls (from Holler onwards) Kate Nash (her new rock sound) Charlotte Church (her image and sound after Back To Scratch) V V Brown (from Samson onwards) Little Boots (her new album, prefer when she does pure pop) Calvin Harris (I preferred the poppier and less generic first two albums with his vocals on) Lady Gaga (Born This Way onwards, OK album but I preferred her when she was less weird) Gabriella Cilmi (the stuff she released after Ten) Sugababes (Sweet 7) |

Dexys Midnight Runners.
From horn-driven soul ( and their cool beany hat/donkey jacket look) http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=l1e9YRXMrTQ To "Diddle-e-dee leprecauns and lets all be stereotypically Irish even though we're not".. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=oc-P8oDuS0Q It broke my heart. |

The Saturdays' Wordshaker era (2009-2010). That was a complete disaster for them and a bit too dramatic a change from the pure pop image they had. The logo change was awful, but thankfully they changed back to the old one when they released Headlines.

Sugababes with Sweet 7, even though I enjoyed the songs they'd lost that edge/spark that made them stand out from the crowd. They essentially turned into generic barbies singing generic, commercialised music that just didn't suit them. It's a shame they were never able to recover from that.

First person I thought of when I saw this thread was Kate Nash, she destroyed her own career.
Others that spring to mind: Lady Gaga - from pure pop to the absolute mess that was Born This Way Muse - don't know what the whole electronic/dubsteppy/classical shite is that they've been releasing the last couple of years |

The Almighty.
From passion fuelled, anthemic biker rock, to jumping onto two passing bandwagons, namely grunge, then pop-punk. |
