Bush 320 GB Twin Tuner Digital TV Recorder BU11FVRSD32 Recording Problem

Hi All,

We have had the above Digital TV Recorder for a couple of years, about 6 months ago we found that the recording of programs became quite hit and miss, sometimes they record other times they won't.

When they don't we often get a blank screen with the message 'no audio/video' and then the name of the channel which it tried to record.

There didn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it then we went away on holiday for a week and every single thing we had scheduled to record was recorded which makes me think that the issue is caused by watching either a freeview channel or something previously recorded while the machine is recording something new which then leads to it not being recorded.

The machine did a software update about a month ago so I know its got the most up to date version.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could advise how I might be able to resolve the problem as otherwise we will need to purchase a new one.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

There are not too many options available to try and fix this.

First off you could try a "factory reset" on it. Should be buried somewhere in the menu system. It wipes all the user settings and returns the machine to "out of the box" condition. So you'll have to go through the retune process all over again. And put back any other settings changes you have made. And any scheduled recordings will go as well. However it should not wipe the hard drive so your recordings should still be there afterwards. But double check the manual just to be sure.

The other option is to format the hard drive in case it's some problem with that. This will lose all recordings obviously so only do it if you've watched everything or what's on there isn't worth keeping. However this won't do anything for a failing hard drive. It would only affect corruption of the file system.

Sometimes even something as simple as switching off at the mains, wait 30 seconds then switch back on can do miracles

If nothing works however the only option is to take it outside and give it a decent burial and go out and buy something better.
