Mickie on Holby City
So... has she decided / realised she is gay now? When did that happen?
Is Jess's baby her new boyfriend's or is it Zubin's? Sorry, bit out of the loop on this one!

Thanks for that info as well. I used to watch Holby all the time then sort of went off it and now just getting back into it again.
Though it cant be very popular as their never seems to be any threads on it! I like it and i do like Zubin and i am glad he has come back into it..i was worried that Paris was the last we saw of him. I think Mickie tells Mubbs next week that she is gay. Though i didnt think much to the girl she was on a blind date with Chelsea! I'm sure Jess must tell Zubin at some point that the baby is his and they get back together... oh no hang on thats not a spoiler just my wishful thinking..LOL

mickie and donna had a one off night of passion back in july. it was never really mentioned again, so seemed like a bit of a ratings grabbing exercise. i'm glad she's finally decided to actually do something about it.
and it looks like she's going to develop a bit of a thing about connie, which is understandable. ever since the inferno, connie has been looking very good. |

I thought they handled the aftermath of the one night stand quite well, it will be nice to see Mickie finally start to get on with her life though.

Meanwhile, there is friction between Mickie and Mubbs all day. When she pesters him to talk about last week he takes her into his office. He screams that he is fed up of being messed around by women, then Mickie reveals she is gay. This is a ickle bit from next week's episode.Elsewhere, Lisa is back from her management course and wants to set up a mentoring scheme. She ropes Mickie into taking part. Connie feels Lisa is too ambitious and tells her that she will mentor Mickie instead. Mickie gets a crush on Connie. Ben xxx |

I was just thinking as I watched it yesterday that one of the actresses on this programme was looking particularly attractive - and that her haircut really suited her. Have looked her up and it is Connie... so, I can tell you from at least one lesbian's point of view, Connie is yummy

LOL I know! can no-one ever be happy just for a little while ??
I would love to see Rubin & Jess back together but knowing scriptwriters love not letting ppl live happy together i think its better they stay apart! If i was Mickie i would stay single for her sake and that of her partner who would be bound to face some tragedy in the near future!!

I think when Holby City first began, it was quite good drama and a lot of people were impressed with the way it handled the gay and lesbian storylines. Without them being sort of front page of TV mag sort of stuff - it had several characters who were gay, or bisexual, or questioning or coming to terms with their sexuality and it was quite well done considering it's a mainstream BBC1 TV show rather than a gay-themed programme.
Holby has got a bit more soapy and lost I think all the original cast? Is anyone from the original cast left? - and the BBC have cranked up the number of episodes per year as it is a good solid ratings winner, but it's still quite good although it does suffer from 2 common problems of soapy shows: 1. Too many deaths! I know it's a hospital, I am talking about all the staff who have kicked the bucket (not as bad as Casualty yet though)! 2. Repetition! I think the problem is so much focus on the maternity storylines, it's always some kind of questionable paternity or surrogacy or something! - well perhaps these stories don't seem the same to everyone else, but they do to me! Still like to watch it though, good programme to sit down, have a glass of wine, chat to your friends, watch an articulated lorry plough into a hospital wing, interrupting a flirtatious conversation... etc...! |

connie is still a bit of a harsh bitch but at least now she's a hot, harsh bitch. her new hair do does certainly suit her.
perhaps she is mellowing a little - well, she's showing us her more sensitive, vulnerable side at times, like with trish and maggie and the champagne. i can see why mickie would develop a crush on her. and it is a step up from fancying donna |

o and i agree about the repetative story lines, but then if you are going to base a drama on a maternity ward and a surgical ward, all you're really going to get are the same old stories. that's why the original setting of A&E was better because nearly everyone comes through casualty first, so you could have loads of different stories.

do you ever run a sweepstake on who it is in casualty that will actually die that week? usually it's the one you think isn't that badly hurt or looks like they'll make a full recovery. mind you, these days it's usually a member of staff ...

Partly because the programme loses realism and partly because you get desensitised to these things. A TV show which establishes a group of characters and kills just one of them off - the death tends to be a lot more shocking - it's more like real life as well, most people die in old age from some kind of illness. I suppose this doesn't make for good television but it means: Oh, another death of a staff member on Casualty? Hmm... - rather than it really hitting home. |
