I have a 'View' DVD player... it's a very small and cheap but one from Asda.

I've just bought a Humax T2 PVR and for some reason every time I press the right button on the Humax control the DVD player turns on! I've tried changing the remote control mode to all 6 settings and it still happens.

Any ideas.... except covering the DVD with a newspaper?

Obviously the code signals are the same, good job you haven't got two Samsung PVRs they use identical signals & cannot be changed I've asked Samsung & they cannot understand why I would want two PVRs!

Do you mean the power toggle button ? If so odd changing the channel used doesn't fix it.

Possible workaround - pressing zero on the remote will boot the HDR-T2 and presumably will be ignored by the DVD player.

The problem is with the right direction button not the power button. Pressing that on the Humax remote control turns the DVD player on.... though interestingly it doesn't turn it off once it's on

Strange that changing the channel doesn't affect a cure

IR signals compose two parts, a device ID and a command, although they are transmitted as a single stream of bits.
What are called "channels" ie. changing the remote channel, is probably just a change to the device ID part, with the command part unchanged.
So the command part of the Humax right-arrow matches the command part of the DVD on/off or possibly a discrete on code. The DVD in standby ignores (or the standby version of the IR handler doesn't differentiate) the device ID correctly.

Workarounds:
Replace DVD player,
Fit remote controlled power socket and plug DVD into that - only switch it on (power DVD) when required - about £10 a set of three sockets and a controller.

I would say the DVD player is faulty, the product part of the code is different for each mode, so the DVD should react to non or only one of them, e.g. EB14 is the 'right cursor key' code, the second part of the code simulates 6 different products

0X EB14 1000 = mode 1
0X EB14 10FA = mode 2
0X EB14 10FB = mode 3
0X EB14 10FC = mode 4
0X EB14 10FD = mode 5
0X EB14 10DE = mode 6
