I'm hoping it does well on 5 Star, maybe their most watched show.”

It has always timeshifted very well, Dallas did the same but that also got bumped around the 5 schedule because of lack of live viewers. It appears that channel 5 always struggles for live viewers, unless it's cheap benefits shows or celebrity reality stuff then viewers don't want to choose channel 5! Shame because Wentworth is quality drama.

If they had named the programme including the "cell block H" bit, as in this thread, I think it would have had a better following.

Well it appears that it returns to channel 5 two weeks after its move to 5star? Very confusing. I think they should just leave it on 5star.

Although it appears it picks up more viewers on "catch up" therefore maybe it doesn't matter when it is shown.

Wentworth Prison won't be moving back to Channel 5, the transfer to 5STAR is a permanent change, they've now apologised for the confusion caused last night.

I think the Wentworth Prison social media is run by an external agency for the DVD promoter so they must have got mixed up!

Yes 5* is on Freeview.

I think it terms of moving the show forward her character now needs to be let go. Its becoming a bit of a farce tbh.”

I think what it needed was to Joan to be introduced to the other prison inmates in a dramatic fashion. It probably wouldn't be realistic but it would be a major moment.
But we're now a few episodes in, they know that Joan is in there, and she's just hanging out in a room somewhere.
It feels like such a wasted opportunity for a storyline which feels like it's dragging.
I just get the feeling that it would have been better if they got her into the main prison population sooner, entered with a dramatic impact, and was put in a cell.
That's just my opinion though. It would make for more excitement and a feeling of tension. I'm just not feeling a sense of threat or dread that something is about to happen.

Channel 5's website have updated their info about the channel move adding that it's too soon to say if they will be transmitting series 5. Doesn't sound too hopeful.

Maybe Sky Atlantic will pick up the rights and show it from the beginning. They would give it a better home than Five have, tbh Five never truly promoted the show, they never had any of the cast over here doing the chat shows.

I hope they do, im loving it.

Ive just got this feeling Bea and her lot, are gone become Joans allies for some reason

Shame we didn't see Franky this week

I can see Bea and Allie getting it on, looking forward to seeing that

Im all for the move if it gets ratings back, its just the picture quality of 5s SD channels is bloody terrible

I guess it will depend on how much channel 5 pay for the series, it will need to be cost effective for them otherwise they will drop it and not show series 5. They have history with dropping shows e.g. Once upon a time. It will be a shame if they drop it and don't show series 5 but then quite a lot of you watch it Aus pace anyway. I don't and will just not watch series 5 unless it ends up on another channel which I think would be unlikely.

It has been heavily supported in terms of on air promotion. No point having the stars over here if none of the chat shows will have them on, and it needed to be a big hit for that.

On Sky Atlantic the show would probably get less than 100,000 so I'm not sure how that would be a great step forward to be honest.

I doubt the rights are massively expensive for Wentworth. Could be wrong.

If it does well for 5Star then every chance they will pick up future series IMO.

I don't think any character has ever irritated me as much as Kaz, and we barely know her!!

C5 are unbelievable. Why do they treat their best shows like this. Yet clog up the main schedule with the usual Benefits porn shite

Yep think that's my underlying issue with this current series
its not really helping at the moment Bea's supposed to be Top dog but there's clearly
3 groups in there making bea's position totally pointless

I think the rights to screen Wentworth would be quite expensive so I doubt very much that channel 5 will buy season 5 now they have shunted Wentworth to 5star.

The big problem is the lack of 'live' viewers watching, even though overnight ratings aren't as important as they once were, they still have to reach a certain percentage (channel 5 aim for around 4.5% of the available live ausience), unfortunately Wentworth has failed to achieve that.

The show has a very big timeshift added which reaches just over 1 million total viewers per episode which is pretty good for Channel 5 but obviously the lack of live viewers is the issue here.

The only glimmer of hope IMO is if channel 5 or whoever may purchase the rights to season 5 broadcast each episode on the same night as it airs in Australia, a huge amount of fans download the show illegally so there is obviously a big fan base for the show but a new approach to the scheduling and promotion is needed if season 5 does ever get screened in the UK.

That was my fave episode of this series so far, poor Mr Jackson getting mixed up in all these turf wars

Loving the dynamic between bea and alli

Hmm maybe because they are a commercial enterprise and while these shows may be their "best shows" in terms of quality and our enjoyment, they are not their best shows in terms of viewers and the all important ad revenue.

Wow, great episode tonight. Last 5 minutes certainly stepped it up a notch.

Line of the night - Joan sniffing Bridgette and saying "what happened to Frankie?". That was good.

I might have missed something but Kaz's sudden allegiance with and protection of Joan is mystifying me. It's like, why? I don't get it.

Boomer on her conjugal. Yikes, it was like a huge helping of blancmange engulfing a small cup cake.

So bored of the Doreen character. Faze her out. Enough of her already, she's boring.

I know it probably needs it for dramatic purposes, but much of this still irritates me somewhat in respect of its now lack of realism and its got worse over the seasons. Cells left open all night in a supposed maximum security prison and the prisoners all wander around as they wish. I mean come on. They move between areas with apparent un-challenged ease? Are there no doors that lock in there? That's all too far fetched frankly. But drama/entertainment wise, still loving it!

Such a shame it's been relegated to 5* (star?) whatever its called. I'd never even heard of this channel before. Deserves so much better, but sadly I think its days of being on UK TV seem severely numbered now.
