TalkTalk, Sanyo and RCU codes - any help?

I've recently got a YouView box. A few years ago a visitor to my flat broke my TV remote control and the replacement one I bought does most things except change the volume. Now, it's apparently possible to set up the YouView remote control to control the volume, as well as one or two other functions of the telly, which would be fantastic for me.

The problem I'm having is that, despite following the instructions to the letter, I can't seem to get it to work. You're supposed to enter a 3-digit code and, if it's the right one, the telly will switch itself off. So far each code has done nothing.

I've tried every code on this list, this list and this list. Nothing works, despite the Sky list actually listing my exact make of TV - a Sanyo CE21DN4-B.

Please someone tell me that there's a way for me to set up the remote without typing in every number from 001 to 999 sequentially in the hope of it working.

Is it a Humax box? Talktalk have instructions for two different boxes on their website

I would doubt Sky codes would work with a non-Sky remote, unless it uses the same electronics.

It's not a Humax remote, no. That page you linked to has exactly the same instructions as the instruction booklet does, and the page of codes it links to is one of the ones I linked to in the OP.

Hang on which remote do you have? If it's not a Humax one then I doubt the Humax codes will do anything.

I have the remote that comes with the YouView box.

Done it. Turns out that not only do you have to press two entirely different buttons than the instructions tell you to, but you have to enter in a completely different, 4-digit code.

Yes but which one? There are two makes of box, Huawei and Humax. looks like the Huawei box is being sent out to new TalkTalk customers. Does yours look like the one on this webpage?
