In inside soap this week they say that a major long term character is going to die and it will be a real tearjerker!

Any ideas? Don think they mean Tommy Harris as wouldnt exactly call him long term character.

When do they die? I think we'd have heard if anyone major was leaving! Jack & Vera aren't leaving yet are they?

Says in April. Is to coincide with the shows 6000 episode. Says two major storylines will come to a conclusion with the depature of a major character having us reach for the hankies.
Also a street event will have the whole community celebrating with two residents being star guests at the party....also says corrie locals will have a reason to start shopping for hats soon!!!!!

I doubt it'll be Tommy; he's not a long-term character.

Yep there is already a thread about this. Did Inside Soap actually say "death" or just departure. We know there is going to be a death (Tommy) but that's not to say there won't be another longer-running character leaving. I don't think they meant that there would be a death

Does say departure. Guess cos it says will have us reaching for the hankies makes you thimk it will be a death.
Whatever it means looks like corrie set for another fab year.

Sure Ray Langton (Tracy's father and Deirdre's ex) is coming back into it to die.

I think it may mean Ray. Depends if they mean long term character who has stayed in the soap.

Not a long standing one, but Penny King leaves this year. As does Tracy Barlow, Ray Langton, Tommy/Angela and Katy Harris, Ian Davenport and Maya Sharma. So take your pick.

Could it be Mike Baldwin? They've brought in Bradley Walsh in as basically a replacement to his charachter, and I rremember the front page of the Manchester Evening News a few months back claimed Johnny Briggs had been fired, but Johnny denied it apparently...

Lets analyse this:-

If the likes of Jack, Vera, Blanche, Mike, etc were leaving, we would have heard about it. Johnny Briggs is contracted to Corrie until 2006 at the earliest.

It has to be:-

-Tommy Harris
-Katy Harris
-Ray Langton (though he's not really a current long-term character)

Got to be the first two.

I thought Mike too...thought he was going to have a long term illness.

johnny briggs said he WASN'T leaving. it will be ray i assume - he's coming back to die from cancer around the 6000th episode. he reappears the same week ken and deidre remarry and katy kills tommy. i know he isn't much loved etc but he's been in it for years (though left a while back) AND i assume it'll be a 'tear jerker' as he's tracy's father
