BT Infinity - Slow

Morning all,

I've noticed recently that our Infinity 2 service has been getting slower. Seemed to pin some of the fault to the HH3 that we have.

I replaced it temporarily with an old Netgear WNR2200 I had lying around (running DD-WRT) and speeds are back to 70mb. But when the HH3 is connected it drops to about 50mb.

All devices connected via ethernet (apart from mobile phones etc) so can't see why it's taking a drop in speed. Done multiple speed tests/file downloads (including BT's own wholesale speed checker)

What's the likelyhood of BT considering this an actual fault?

you are lucky my infinity is running at 6.73mb!. it's never run above 17mb. bt dont seem to care. I have spent hours on the phone going round in circles, Had four engineers out (it should have been 6 but 2 did'nt bother to show up). have now stoped dd and not paying bill 'till sorted

It's hard to diagnose why it's running slow when you don't know what your modem is syncing at. if it's syncing fast and working you can pin the fault on the router. if the modem is syncing slow you can do the line checks ( disconnect extension wiring) to double check the issue is not in your issue is not in your home.

If you have HG612 BT open reach modem it's worth giving firmware with updated blob a try from http://huaweihg612hacking.wordpress.com/

then you can look at the modems sync speed and SNR, or get real detailed info with DSLstats from the modem telnet console.

The earlier ECI modem can be unlocked but it's much more work.

My connection is running full speed ahead ( max possible sync) faster than the estimate.
