Which one shows off contestants voice more?

I think ballards show contestant's voice off more because you can hear every single word without distractions like silly dances in the background.

It depends on the act. Ballads show off their voices more, but uptempo songs show off their stage craft more.

Voice alone, Ballad but otherwise I prefer Up Tempo because it shows a lot more.

Hmm...If they have a nice tone to their voice....Ballads ALL the time.

If not...then up tempo can hide their voices more.

Whichever makes the vocal sound strongest. Usually that'd be a ballad, but when someone sings a song that's both up tempo and a great vocal that'll probably stick out in my mind more than a ballad.

This - I agree ballads are better but it's when someone does an amazing version of an uptempo song - that's when I remember them.

Misha's Rolling in the Deep, Alex's Toxic/Candyman, Rebecca's Satisfaction and James's Let's Get it On have stuck in my mind way more than most other songs.

I can't read 'uptempo' without being reminded of Kelly Rowland! Anyway, I think it really depends on the song.
