I am enquiring about information in relation to Surround Sound systems.
I have a Sony 32 Inch Widescreen and a Sony DVD player without an in built Dolby Digital Decoder. It has both an optical and coaxial audio out connectio though.
In order to utilise a 6 speaker setup I will need to get a Dolby Receiver (DD,DTS and Prologic)and a set of speakers.
Obviously I'll be able to get Dolby Digital from the DVD's and DTS too.
For normal stereo broadcasts can I use the Pro Logic decoder ?
I have SKY Digital ( not a SKY Plus box )and also a terrestrial aerial.
Does anyone know what proportion of broadcasts are Dolby Surround encoded ?
There is no point in getting a Surround system if only a few programmes can be received in Surround.
I have my eye on the Sony HTk-475 and HTK-215.
Can anyone recommend these ?
Another option is to buy an all in one DVD ,Decoder and Amp system like the LG-3520.
These systems have a built in DD,DTS decoder and some have a Prologic decoder I think.
Could I use these units to decode my TV broadcasts ? or do they only operate on DVD's ?
Any help or information on these items would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
