It was on late on Thursday nights in the mid 90's around 96/97. It was about a vicar and his family and if you saw it you'd know why it was on late, it was very raunchy and hillariously bad. It didn't last long, does anyone remember it?

It was genius! It was on in three ITV regions. It lasted for two series of bisexual-drug addict -lesbian vicar-two bodies in the garden-murdering bishop- prostitution action before Judy Loe blew her lover Steve up when Steve realised that Judy Loe had killed his sister Rachel, by injecting her with a needle full of air, a needle she had taken from her son, Rachel's husband, Gabriel, who was bisexual - as Rachel had found out that Judy Loe's husband, the bishop, had bumped off his pregnant lover.

Well remembered Vodka Squirrel.

I, too, watched it and it was a kind of replacement for fAMILIES after that was axed but nowhere near as good. But still good enough for me to watch it though

I remember it too - it was a great show - well, entertaining anyway.

Can anyone remeber any more of the stars in it ? I vaguely recall there were some famous faces, but I can't seem to bring any to mind

This was actually created by Russel T Davies (queer as folk/doctor who/Bob and Rose). It had a guy called Stephen Mapes in as "Gabrielle". I was working in a theatre where he was playing Hamlet on the day it aired. Nobody knew what to say to him the day after as it was soooo appalling!

Revelations was shown late 1994/early 1995 on SOME ITV regions (it wasnt shown on Yorkshire).

Sky One then repeated the 26 episodes late 1995/early 1996. Straight after the repeats Sky One comissioned their own 2nd series of Revelations (another 26 episodes) which ran until Autumn 1996.
To my knowledge Revelations series 2 was never shown on ITV.

I dont think Revelations was ever a replacment for Famililes. Families was an afternoon soap, revelations was late night! However they were kinda similar I suppose.

Famililes was fantastic viewing! I watched every episode, and then I watched the repeats on Granada Plus! hehe

I always remember the Vicars daughter was a right slapper and also the Vicar was having an affair with some woman and it one episode he poured Champagne all over her and licked it off. The next day at school everyone was talking and laughing about it.

Alas, your knowledge fails you Revelations series 2 was shown in the Granada region in 1996 (Thursday nights, after the news). I know, because I watched the series at home whilst revising for GCSEs, and my parents have never had Sky TV!

I vaguely remember the name, but never watched it. Purely a regional thing I imagine.

You're all confusing it with "Gems" - late 80's, yuppies, mobile phones the size of bricks, northeners being corrupted in "the smoke"..........No?

It was on Central late night TV and featured a shagging bishop, his domineering wife and his family.

Can't remember the details, just the fact they had got all the church structures wrong and it was fantastically melodramatic and absolutely wonderfully OTT.

Judy Loe was brilliant - I think her last TV show before that was the children's programme called Ace of Wands (?) where she was the sidekick to a magician called 'Tarot'.

In the same vain does anyone remember Brothers and Sisters – It wasn’t technically soap more of a serial drama really, it was broadcast on BBC2 in the mid 1990’s and I think it had about two series.
