Yep me too, I was really hoping that the rumour would be unfounded, I hope she doesn't get partnered with Pasha

Pasha is due a Vanessa

I wouldn't be happy seeing Pasha wasted on Vanessa from a dancing point of view, but on the other hand he might benefit from a chance to relate to somebody with a big personality and a sense of humour. His partnership with Kimberley was disastrously dull.

He is probably due someone bad but I cannot stand Vanessa Feltz.

That was my impression as well. I just hope it doesn't mean she will be partnered with Robin which would mean another series for him with 'comic' routines and shedloads of irritating gurning. Robin is a good dancer, he deserves someone better this year.

Anyone who listens to her daily BBC London 94.9 show will know she's an extremely articulate, intelligent woman. She was also on Radio 4 this evening with Rufus Hound, and was highly amusing, and self mocking and critical - so she's not up her own arse. Yes she went through a bad time during her divorce and behaved strangely in public, but she's much happier and calmer these days. She's also no longer very "fat". Not as big as Lisa Riley was anyway.

The only downside to Vanessa is the one time we saw her dance on TV she wasn't very good, so I hope she gets a good partner and can improve a bit and make a go of it, as if so, she'll certainly be very entertaining on ITT and have plenty to say - please God not sitting beside Anton, who will ruin any slight chance she may have to get through a couple of rounds.”

With respect, I've seen other downsides to Vanessa from watching her on other things you don't mention here. I usually give contestants a chance but I've said on here I want her out first, and will stick by it unless someone else gives more reason to do so. I won't be castigating her or making remarks on the Non App thread, but I really am not pleased she's taking part. Just IMO.

Its just something that was in my mind at the time, I don't want to get prematurely excited only to have my hopes dashed at the last minute, I do wish I had listened to the radio this morning, if this is true I will be so exited to see Vanessa on Strictly Come Dancing, it will be great to have some early stardust in the line up.

Robin may be a good dancer but he didn't bring Lisa on very much. They found a formula that worked for week one and stuck to it. She didn't improve, she just kept doing the same thing. I don't know how much this was down to Lisa and how much it was down to Robin, but Lisa had potential which really wasn't realised.

I just think it wasn't the best combination. In terms of development i liked the job he did with his two previous partners. Lisa stayed in a good long while, but might have done better dancingwise paired with A N Other.

I don't actually object to you wanting to see her, life would be so boring if everyone liked the same thing.

I'm not saying she will be my favourite or anything and I'll want her to win necessarily, I'm just quite excited that she's in the line up

Lisa seemed to be happy just to be having a great time and watching so many other people (including the judges!) jump on her bandwagon.

I think Robin did what he could. He was never going to make her look graceful and elegant, so he stuck with the fun element - and let's be honest, it worked. She was in the show far longer than she probably should have been.

That's kind of why I said I wasn't sure if it was down to Robin or down to Lisa. We've seen pros in the past be quite strict about improving technique and we didn't see that from Robin with Lisa. Perhaps because she objected to him trying to improve her technique, perhaps because he felt that this was as good as she was going to get, perhaps because they decided to focus on fun over technique, or perhaps because of a combination of any or all of the above. Whatever the reason, she didn't improve, which is a shame, because she seemed to have the potential to do so.

I hope she isn't on the show. I can't believe the producers would reject Rebecca Adlington but green-light this awful, low-rent celebrity.

Well she is now definite...

I agree. I cant see why they said no to Rebecca Adlington whilst signing Vanessa.

I rarely vote for a female celebritiy (as Im usually voting for the male celeb with a female pro)... but Rebecca might have had a chance of getting my vote.

Bad move BBC in my opinion.

Because they have specific slots to fill: the sports star, the pop star, the soap star, the presenter, the older celeb, the larger than life personality etc. If they have another female sports star in this year's lineup, then perhaps the producers felt it would be better to leave Rebecca Adlington until next year.

I admit I agree that I'd rather watch Rebecca Adlingon than Vanessa Feltz but just because she wasn't right for this year's lineup doesn't mean she won't be invited do to Strictly in the future.

Her going to the papers about it I doubt will do her any favours in the possibility of being asked back another year.
