Does anyone know if any of the TV Channels plan to re run this great series!??

Also, There was talk a few months ago that Australia was going to remake it. Val Lehman (Bea Smith) was interested in joining the new cast, as the governor this time, and not a prisoner.

I doubt it. I religiously watched PCBH and loved it.

They did rerun it on 5 in the early mornings a while back- I saw a few episodes. I usually forgot, but from what I saw of it, it looked quite good. I would like to see it rerun again so I could watch it properly.

As much as I like Bad Girls, it never matches up to PCBH

I too loved this show. I have every episode on tape!

There was a rumour that a new channel called Aussie Gold was coming to Sky and it would show it in the evenings but as yet that has not been confirmed.

And as for Val Lehman coming back as the govenor - no. I wouldn't have thought so. Even if they ever do a remake, which they won't (see the Central Post interview with Anna Soubry c.1988 or the video with Paul Lavers) Val would never go back to the block.

I loved it too, but don't see how they could remake it nowadays. It should be left to nostalgia. five should definately re-run it though - it was one of the few decent things the channel's ever shown!

Would be great if was repeated. Cant see a new series working too much time has passed, plus with modern technology we wont have the wonderful wobbly sets.

Is this Aussie Gold Channel actually going ahead? All we hear is a lot of talk about it, but nothing in concrete yet?

Don't know anything about the remake rumoured from a few months ago, but a few years ago there were plans for a new series, called Insiders or Inside Out or something, but the plans were shelved in favour of a revamp of Neighbours, which saw Madge and Harold come back, Cheryl and the Rebecchis leave etc.

I'd love to see a spin-off/revamp of Prisoner, but I'd be just as happy if the original series was released on DVD.

I noticed on ebay last night that there are people selling all the episodes on dvd's. On one auction a question to seller asked how many dvd's were there for the first 100 episodes and they replied 30, so goodness knows how many for the entire set.

Why do I always see these things for sale when I am stoney broke.

I seriously think i am thee number 1 fan of cell block. I used to love it when i was a kid, i used to sneak up and watch it when it was on ITV then i watched it again on five.

I have just watched the dvd too but there was not enough eps on it, i think its the total cheesyness of the whole set up, and i just don't think it could be done again (plus i hear the freak is set to become a character in home and away) and there would be no point to cell block without the freak!

The person who may be selling recorded pisodes on dvd must have transferrred from home recording on video so i doubt the quality of the picture and is blatantly infringing copyright by selling them on e bay.

The closing credits/theme tune of PCBH are very poignant and memorable.

Prisoner Cell Block H had this raw & real feeling about it and it brings back fond memories for me.
My dad was on nights in the early 90’s, so my mum used to allow my sister and I to stay up and watch it with her.
