The only thing that is sad is that BB is attracting these types in the first place. Quite a few posts have stated that a winner like Sam means that the show will attract a dull type of HM which will bring the show down, but I don't believe that this is true; I think that more chancer-types will see what Dexter has tried to do (ineptly) and failed at, and try to enter the house with an ulterior motive. It is more likely that we will have a house full of Dex and Gina types rather than a house full of Sam types in the future - that will make many happy, but not me. Sam was crowned the winner though, so hopefully that says something about they type of HM the majority want to see.”

Great post. I agree with this. I watch it as reality tv, not a game show, so I like HMs to be real. I zone out when a 'character' is on - they have nothing I want to hear. That's why, after initially adoring Dexter, I got very bored with him and treated a lot of his scenes as an ad break and popped to the loo or made a snack while he was on. While the ordinary Joe or Josephine Soap can still win over the fake or manipulative 'big characters' I'll still watch.

Absolutely, great post.

I'm not sure any of it was real. I may be cynical - and I hope I'm wrong - but I think Dexter is all about self-promotion and this 'journey' was just him changing tack as plan A was failing. He just seems so contrived and cliched, like a bad soap script.

Exactly and the main thing I'm happy about is that Big brother brought his mum and him closer together, I'm happy to hear she staying around for little while to spend some time with Dexter.

So all the outside messages he got from his mum saying relax, be yourself, lose the work head side of you, were in fact more than words of encouragement they were major hints on how to continue????

No I genuinely believe they were word of encouragement, I think his mum coming in the house after him not seein her for ages was a real turning point for him the house. The safe house was as well in fairness.

Exactly, he and Gina in effect ruined BB near the end as everyone knew they were fakes, so it was all pretty pointless. He actually said to Hazel after talking to Charlie for 2 hours, after the 'argument kick off', that he hoped he hadn't mugged himself of by talking to her and saying the things he did to her - 'professionally', meaning it could look bad for whatever 'game' he was actually trying to pull off. How a PR firm could assume anyone going into the house would help their marketability, esp. Dexter, is totally beyond me.

@avon942 I also think they were genuine words of encouragement, but the messages also now have an added dimension to them. Which just goes to show that outside influences should not be so numerous and blatant.
She was basically telling him that now he had dropped that ridiculous sugar daddy persona he was doing a lot better in there.

how interesting....

but no wonder the book idea was pulled, Dexter didn't play the great pretender.......All he needs to do is rewrite it slightly, and repackage it, with a different ending, and he will have a best seller on his hands.....

his lifestory is going to interest quite a few magazines id imagine
